~S~ All
This may sound a bit strange but I was wondering if anyone knows which plane has the best roll rate? The reason I am asking is because I am building replicas of the red bull air racing courses, oh nearly forgot, the planes must not be effected by negative g force ie carburettor. Many thanks Birdy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think the 190 has the fastest rr in the sim...

Depends on the speed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

FW-190 has a high rate of roll, but... it's of no use in a Red Bull race circuit! Far too heavy and not turning very well.
I found the Ki-43 (perhaps Ki-27?) to be the best performer on these tight circuits...

So did you time them? - 190 should be very competitive on these courses - also KI-84.

Do a barrel roll!

I think the Focke Wulf and the Lerche have the highest roll rates, but the Lerche only because it's a cigar with engines.

The turn rate would let it down, as well as the 'slalom' mparts which the FW190 would no doubt do well on, the planes have to do extremely tight turns/corners, and the size of the loop is crucial, it needs to be as small as possible.

Compare the looop made made a SPitfire or Zero to one made by as FW190. The FW190 would lose too much time IMO.

(Just a guess, not tested)

I've got a few RBA inspired courses and I find the 190 A5 to be one of the most fun, and fastest aircraft through the courses that have the room for it's rather large radius reversals, but some sloloms or point roll segments that demand a fast roll rate at speed. The Ki43 is probably the most Edge like with respect to it's general handling and pitch rate, but of course nothing in the sim has the roll rate of an Edge or Extra. Teh Zero's are fun, but roll rate at higher speeds becomes an issues, same for spits. The La5/7s are quite capable and VERY fast through a course, and roll reasonably well, but they lack the feel (and challenge)that I for one love about the 190. I opted instead to build courses based on the limits of the 190 rather than a real world layout and dimensions. . .as not much in this sim would complete such a course.

The I 16 is a great plane for races

The Tempest is fast, has a decent instant turn rate (but high energy loss) and it rolls pretty fast. Not as good as the FW190 but it may be a better balanced air racer. The Ki-84 is another contender which also has a high speed, excellent roll rate at most speeds, and a better turn that most other high speed aircraft.

the Tommies swore the fw190's were the most amazing they had ever seen in true disbelief as in the best novel ive ever read (3 times)-Top guns of JG26 by Caldwell and the forward by yours truely http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gifAdolf Galland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

I-16 and I-153 have insane roll rates, equal or better than FW-190. I was also flying something else just the other day that impressed me with it's roll but I'll be darned if I remember what it was!! For a Japan plane, that N1K2-JA has a nice roll. Notice I said, "for a Japan plane".
Yak-3 is not too bad for a later Ruskie.

The Gladiator or Cr-42, maybe? Not as good a rollrate as the Focke Wulf, but they're still twitchy on the controls.

Yes there are i153s and and gladiators and such, but they don't much like the negative Gs!

Wasn't part of the reason the A6M was so feared in the early war because of its high roll rate?
