I was just useing full mission builder makeing a REALLY HUGE mission and just as I was loading it up all ready to play I got the massage, to many planes or air drones. I didn't think IL 2 had a limit.

The Uberquick Mission Generator promises the ability to have:-

"More than 32 planes (over 20 Thousand, yes 20000, depending on your PC)"

so I would say IL2 has the potential to be effectively 'unlimited'. Obviously the CPU itself provides the limitation though http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I am guessing the message you saw was IL2 itself setting a limit for playability reasons. UQMG bypasses IL2 entirely.

You might want to try spawning them at separate times during the mission.

Using Uber Demon been able to get up to 200 aircraft into a mission with no problems... but start having studders and such after that. Uber allows you to space the aircraft... this helps my rig handle the load better than the spacing of a regular FMB game.

A couple of screen shots...

This topic reminded me of something I'd tried not too long ago...in FMB, I found myself a nice big airfield(can't remember which map), and on one of the big parking areas away from the runway, I wanted to make a 'diplay' of static aircraft. Basically, took one of each a/c and 'parked' them alongside ewach other in rows. On about the fourth row of planes, as I was adding the next one, the new planes suddenly no longer had color. They appeared in what can only be described as a 'void' color, except not in white, but black. I tried something similar a year or so back and remember that I could put fewer planes in this 'display' before they, too, lost their color and were being placed as 'voids', except that time they were in white. Was just wondering if this could be some weird sort of yardstick for seeing how much your PC can handle in this game before it starts taking strain... Initially, I did this 'display' thing to have a kind of a/c museum where I could do a flyby of one of each of the +-300 a/c in the game (static). Was a bit disappointed that I couldn't even place all the a/c before my PC started 'losing it'.
My Specs:
AMD 64 3000 Athlon
1 Gb RAM
GeForce 7300 512Mb.

My system would commit scuicide to see as many planes as wolfie has in that pic. lol

where do I get the Uberquick Mission Generator?

Copperhead310th... You would be surprized, with what your Rig can do with a bit of tweeking out of the game when your setting up with Uber's program.

Hopefully someone on Olegs team will add this to BoB when it comes out.

Here is one of my mission set-ups... it's a Korean War mission using the P-47's as A-1 Sky Raiders [Rudi_Jaeger skin].

One of the biggest load factors... is the aircraft spacing. Uber allows you to change the height of the cloned formations and distance between the aircraft.

Also there is a Ground Objects Custom feature for the load on your Rig... along with a AA static or moving Custom feature.

All these can help you adjust a game alot more better than the Il-2 standard settings for FMB or QMB. And there is a lot more to Uber's program.

It a Very powerful little program over all. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

bigbossmalone... When I was running my old Rig...
2.53 CPU, 1Gig RAM, 9800 Pro.

With certain maps such as Wakw Island. I was getting some pretty weird graphic's. Such as void white aircraft, black skies and a few other mind altering graphic's.

You might want to check your game settings... also the more objects you place on the map. The more of a load for your rig if they are all packed together. You might want to spread them out a bit.
Some of the object Tree's are a Killer.

so UQMG can save a hand-made formation, e.g. a combat box, and copy it to another mission? this would be fantastic...

Just a few of Uber Demon's features... and at the bottom of the program page there is a UQMG Tutorial to help out.

It's generally an excellent programme (UQMG) though there's a bit of a learning curve involved.

Only now, for example, do I know what folder IL2 should be looking at when choosing the saved games from the UQMG ingame interface (thus saving me from having to load missions via UQMG's own menu bar - newly discovered way is much faster).

There are several ways (including some tweaks on the Windoze side) to reduce stutter resulting from mass a/c formations.

Yes there are many ways to cook the IL-2 Soup! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I haven't stopped finding out yet myself... IL-2 is a continuing adventure in Tweeking Dept.

At the present time I'm running at [see below]... and the only time I have any type of studder or etc is when all the bombers for say drop their load at the same time.[Quite the show by the way!] Other wise I can run problem free with 160 up to 200 aircraft. [but that can depend on which map is used also with 200 aircraft.]

The uberquic... is very good, but I don't like having to create a mission, then generate it, then save it, then start IL2, then find the mission, then load it.

which is why I still use the pathetic qmb of the game... At least I can switch planes without having to quit IL2, open uberq..., load mission, edit mission, save mission, start IL2 again, find mission, load mission, ...

As for the fmb, it's only for people who create campaigns and consciously allocate a lot of their time in that to create something beautiful. For all the rest and for every day use it's a joke.

Just looking at the first paragraph, you may be doing it slightly "wrong". IL2 needs to be up and running when you generate the mission - no need to save it first (or at all).

neural_dream... Not sure how your running the Uber Demon program???

One... you don't have to shut down IL-2 to go to the Uber D. menu and edit or setup a mission.
Also even if you quit Uber D. program the mission you have setup and played is still playable with IL-2 afterward... and after you shut IL-2 down and come back the following day... the mission will still be there to play with out running the Uber D. program.

neural_dream... If you decide to give Uber Demon a go again... give me a PM. I'll try and help you out.
If your a offline flyer... it's the only way to go. And Mission Mate is also a Great Program... use both.

foxyboy1964... I'll try and kill any sudden thoughts later today... with a bit of Baker's Bourbon. LoL

Mine would go on fire if I tried anything like the number of planes you've got in those screenies. That shot with the map is incredible. I've never saw anything like that in the game.

Quote... Two nations separated by a common language.

Many many Moon's ago... while I was in the Navy. A group of us from the ship bump into these Danish sailors. We were at this bar and were having a Great time even though none of us could speak each other's langage.

So I guess the beer still go's down and taste the same no matter what! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
