It is interesting that many WWII Soviet aces were awarded top US & British medals. For example, Pokryshky was awared a US medal which in Russian sounds like "For military honors". I wonder what US medal was given to Pokryshkyn?

What was the Russian for it? Do you have a link to where you saw it? It could well have been the Legion of Merit, but a few others, such as the Distinguished Flying Cross, were given by the US to allies. Except for the Legion of Merit, US awards are usually not given to foreigners.

Do u think it was the Legion of Merit medal?
I read it in the awards list of Pokrishkyn available on the Runet.
