A fascinating squadron history of Night Fighting Squadron 90 (VF(N)-90) flying F6Fs off the USS Enterprise in 1944/5, at night, of course, and in all types of weather.

I was gonna say, "hold his breath". Turns out I was close. Nice read Woof.

edit--- heh I didn't see the portion of the thread title that said "take in a mouth full of water". And here I was all excited about answering a riddle.

yeah, that "USS Enterprise CV6 - The Most Decorated Ship of the Second World War" website is a great place; LOADS of really good information.

Even testimonials from Japanese airmen (http://www.cv6.org/company/accounts/arima/default.htm).

20 January 1945: At 2115 a four plane heckler was launched. The mission was to heckle air fields in southwest Formosa. The air field at Toko was shot up somewhat. During part of this flight a brilliant orange colored light was sighted. After a considerable run it was decided that they were chasing a star and withdrew for other targets.
