with the demise of the screenshot art website it would be a nice place to keep that sort of thing runing.

Totally agree on this one.

I agree 100% on this one. Too bad screenshot art went belly up http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

A seperate forum would be cool (and probably more useful than even the Squad forum). It would be able to accommodate different aspects and possibly make it easier to see just what you're interested in. i.e. PTO, ETO, EF, and sub-categories within those as well.

This isn't a bad idea.

Yes Yes and errr Yes.............

I hope Monstad is ok guys, please think of him, he gave us so much, both in his time, considerable web programming skills, he footed all the bills more or less single handed for all of the prizes and the running of the site, which was par excellence, this guy deserves a medal in my eyes....... I just hope things are ok for him http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Agreed, Monstad really put together a terrific site. He deserves much credit for advancing the ideal of using screenshots as a medium for art. It's hard to imagine what brought on the sudden closure of SSA, I just hope he's ok healthwise. All else of life's problems can be dealt with in due time.

I wholeheartedly support the idea of a dedicated screenshot forum on UBI. What better way to showcase the beauty of the game and encourage community members to stay involved?

Oh, and if you need a mod for a new screenshot forum, I'd be interested. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We cant even get existing forums combined... and you are talking about new one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Not against the idea by all means... just saying.. oh the reality

There are arguments both for and against combining the forums (GD+PF), I think generally most think they should be seperate. Setting up a new forum has got to be easier than combining two existing ones.

A new forum for HRS is needed IMO simply because of the size of the sticky in GD. Images are lost in all those pages, as are the comments.

I have no problem with adding a High Rez screenshot forum to my existing fourms... but its not really the same as having one at UBI I suppose.
If you need/want a forum to use in the mean time, give me a shout and you can have one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
I recently got the domain gamers-review.co.uk, I just added the forums yesterday and the website hasn't been uploaded yet http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
Forums are at gamers-review.co.uk/forum
If you want a permanent forum there, it aint a problem.
it could be a community run thing with competitions etc. Although I doubt I could do quite as good a job as the guys at screenshotart.
I see Seanorris has experience at this sort of thing, and paints great skins http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Drop me a pm if you are interested Norris.

Ok great, now where do we go from here? Has it been deceided? And if so, may I add a vote for Monstad as an admin on this forum.

Personally, I like Monstad's idea for an edited screen shot (created in IL2 no photos) contest whose winning artwork would be given to Oleg.

Regardless who wins, I'm sure the community would appreciate the efforts of all contributors. After all, there is so much more to this Sim than dog fighting.

Let's keep history alive.

Just my 3 cents
