screwing around on the internet found this its a map of the middle east figured id have a look and find all the places of importance

jean St. acre is there jerusalem, damascus then if you look north in the middle of the blue area (directly east of cyprus) theres a small redish area, it actually says assassins across it lol so much for the hour i spent looking up the closest citys to to syrian nizari fortresses to find them on the map

so if thats the area we are working from the fortresses of masyaf and kafh then were operating under orders from Rashid al-Din Sinan (d. 589/1193) who controlled the syrian isma'ili fortresses (omgz lyke he's teaching us history and stuff!!! and not the rubbish about a secret clan called hashasin)

theres also a plan of jerusalem from about 1187 at the bottom. it shows the larger streets, city gates and more interestingly the larger churches and chapels (shouldnt be to hard to find some priests to hide in now)

ye olde map of stuff (http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/historical/shepherd/asia_minor_1140.jpg)
p.s. look at number 8,
anyone wanna give the templers a kicking?

Good thoughts..

You've found that image via Wikipedia, haven't you? I've seen it months ago. It's quite interesting really to see that the three cities are so far away from each other.

Furthermore I think that little map of Jeruzalem is quite usable in the game, I assume the game's level design is based right out of documents like these.

now all we need is a historic plan of Damascus and jean-St.acre

we dont get to spend years in the service of our targets as advisors(religeous or other wise), guards, friends etc like a real nizari agent, so city intel will be handy for hit and run killings. If they did what they said and recreated the cities from historic records then knowing where markets busy streets and ways out of the city are gonna be handy if a group of wondering priests and monks isnt on stand by

damascus 600-700 ish (http://www.damascus-online.com/history/Maps/arab_empire.jpg)

roman damascus late bc early ad (http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5500/1432/1600/damascus.jpg)

re watched the dev diary on the main site and realised somthing

"we recreated all of the holy land so a huge kingdom that includes all the major cities as they existed back then in the year 1191

you start out basically in masyaf which is the base in syria that the assassins had there, you head down and explore basically the whole kindom theres acre damascus and jerusalem probabily most people have heard of jerusalem acre is a city at the time richard the lion heart had ......." Jade Raymond dev diary

looking at the map thats close if not over 200 miles from masyaf (what about kahf the capitol sinan (the old man of the mountain not hassan he was long dead) ruled from?? not masayf) to jerusalem. now if they have recreated the whole kingdom (its actually 3 kindoms 4 if you count tripoli that borders the syrian base on 3 sides) then even on horse back its would take several days to travel between the 2 furthest cities mentioned not to mention masyaf was built in the mountians.

if what they said about no load times etc and bieng able to travel from 1 point to the other without warpage (e.g damascus run at shimery wall *warp* now im at jerusalem) most of the games going to be riding through towns getting from 1 city to another

that would explain how you get to assasinate william monferrat though who died in tyre in 1191 not the 3 main cities mentioned in the game
