I was at my mates place today studying for my physics exam when I got a call from mum, my dad was taken to hospital in an ambulance. He was riding his bike when he got into a major prang, obviously I wasn't there but I'm told hes probably got several broken ribs, cuts, bruises, and may have suffered a minor heart attack. Luckily he was wearing his helmet or he would have been killed for sure, the helmets completely mangled now. Doctors only seen him about 40 minutes ago, so he'll probably be staying the night (its almost ten here). So here's hoping he's alright.

Best wishes to your dad! That sounds really horrible.

Another good example why helmets on bikes are real lifesavers!

Bloody oath mate. Righto, turns out hes got a fractured collarbone and several cracked ribs. Better than I thought but still not too flash. Important thing is that he'll live, and without any permanent problems.

Thanks for the support guys http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Best wishes to him from a fellow rider. Hopefully he'll recover fast, and can be doing what he loves again(riding his bike).

I have been lucky so far(knocks on wood). Been riding for 25 years, and have had a lot of close calls, but never went down.

Collarbone and ribs will take a bit to heal. Hurts every time you take a breath. I'm just glad that it wasn't more serious. Seems he has a bit of luck on his side also.

HotelBushranger, all the best to your dad. Sounds like he'll be ok...

Diablo, I lost my dad to cancer last year, so I'm with you on that one bro. Feels like yesterday, so I can only remember what you must be going through.

God be with both of your families.

Haha how old is he indeed? If my failing, teenage memory serves me correct hes about 48, not as healthy as one would like, but I suppose that's why hes riding his bike http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif (bicycle btw Xio) He's at home now and I'm staying here to look after him, in case anything goes wrong.

48? He'll be up & about in no time... At this stage in the game he will probably heal even faster just so he can get out of the house..LMAO.. He is younger than I am .... Has he started laughing about it yet? Iknow when I took a tumble onmy rollerblades.. (granted it was @ 12 years ago...) It hurt like h@ll at the time.. but when I think of me crawling in agony to the side of the road (In Central Park no less... @96th St on the West side..) and this absolutely stunning hottie.. I mean BLAZIN hottie... came up to me ans said.... "Sir .... are you alright....? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif" ... Well ... I knew then that without a doubt my mack daddy days were long gone...LMAO... My back is still messed up behindthat too... but I laugh like h@ll when I think about it now.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif
