Where there any instances where fighters were hit by friendly flak while intercepting enemy heavy bombers?

I know that there were probably zones where fighters stayed away from flak rings, or ground fire coordinated with friendly fighters, but I was just curious of any stories where fighters hunted down bombers even though there was heavy flak.
