About half way down the page, in amongst the new products they have snuck in an origianl WWII Yak 9:

Original Yak-9

One of only six original aircraft in the world (only 17,000 made!) and likely to be the first airworthy example. Will be totally restored with zero-timed Klimov engine. Will be available with large stock of spares, including spare engine etc. An incredible opportunity at a fraction of the cost of more common Western contemporaries with less performance. Price from US$480,000 depending on specification and spares included.

Being an aerobatic freak. I'd take one of those Sukohi's first, and pocket the rest of the money../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I'm in!!! Start a PayPal account and let's get the dough together. We should buy the bird, start a
"Il2 Community Yak-9" skin contest and have it painted.

Could land it on the aircraft carrier for sale on that other thread. Only an additional $4,500,000 for the carrier and you probably wouldn't even need a tailhook.

Just a general Yak related question - were these things actually designed as clear weather day fighters only?

I am struggling to comprehend designing an aircraft panel without even an artificial horizon. Or is that a Forgotten Battles thing?

I worked for a time at the Santa Monica Museum of Flying out in LA. There was an plan involving several rather loaded gentlemen affiliated with the museum to finance a re-tooling and re-opening of a Yakovlev line in Russia that would manufacture brand new Yak-9s for a new, lower cost division of warbird class for Reno (and other planned circuit races); the dream was to create a NASCAR of air racing, of sorts.

The idea died. Dealings with the Russians became prohibatively expensive, if you know what I mean, and the FAA cert process involving the engines became rather tricky, especially after a couple American engine manufacturers realized that part of the deal required Russian powerplants.
