I have all the expansions and wore out one X-45. Today I have received CH Pro pedals that I ordered on Sat. Of course like any "kid" I had to have them next deliver them.
Now I have to get used to these. I don't think this will be a problem http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Then you'll want a bigger monitor. Then a high end video card to push it. Of course you'll want to double your RAM, then on and on and on.

Welcome to the never ending upgrade club.

I'm coming up on $4,000 spent because of this game. It's an addiction.

You aren't kidding. My recent purchases for IL2/PF have been:

New Computer
CH Throttle
CH Fighterstick
TrackIR3 Pro (w/ Vector)

I already owned rudder pedals, or I would have bought them too.

And of course I also bought IL2 AEP (Gold) and PF, but those costs seem almost insubstantial after all the stuff listed above! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Been looking at some PVC pipe to make a little pit to go with...or maybe it'll be trackIR.Not sure right now but am definatly looking at getting that. Now if I could only stop correcting the bank in a turn.Planes turning left my heads cocked to the right to correct that angle. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I've been combing the ac boneyards trying to locate a decent cockpit to integrate into this game. I am going to set it up on a hydraulics platform so when I move my joystick the whole cockpit moves in the correct direction and pitch. Haven't figured out how to mimick a barrel roll yet though. I would really like to find a cockpit with the rudder pedals and stick still intact so I can wire them into the HOTAS. I've already located a wrap around screen that will cover the front cockpit glass. I wish I could get the gauges too work, but I think that would be asking a bit much. HEHEHEHEHE

I tell my Wife that there are far worse things I could be addicted to.

I'm glad to see all these new faces getting involved.

Us older players have had the luxury of upgradeing slower to be at the level your trying to attain in a short amount of time.

Although we have probably upgraded 3 to 4 times our machines in the last 4 years too.

Aye. In many ways our pcs have become our flying crates, pretty much designed to run IL2/FB/AEP/PF first and foremost.

I still cringe a little when I think how much I`ve spent on it.

Same here - started out with an AMD 850 with 128 megs - that was in the IL2-original days. I've been upgrading since & though I never go for the state-of-the-art (I'm a student) I've got a decent rig now - just for this little pretty algorithm made by a genius in Russia...
But I can think of many hobbies that could potentially cost you a lot more than having an updated gaming rig - after all this is not so bad http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

'Hello, my name is 'DarkBlueMan' and I haven't played IL2 for 10 minutes!'
<applause>

Some people just don't understand us. I try to explain the joy of IL2 to colleagues and they just smile at me and nod in that way.

in next 3-5 years TIRs still a good solution for our entertainment game plays

but next 5 years VR HELMET will come back again so think how fun in future like Online play in:
- FPS
- SIMULATION ( Car, plane , tank , space ship , SH(VII) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
- RPC

then 2D monitor or PS will be a history http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Same here, just bought TIR3 to go with my CH Products HOTAS rig, P4 3GHz w/1Gb RAM, 9800 Pro video card, and Audigy 2zs sound card to run a 19" true flat monitor and 5.1 speakers.

Looking at the Athlon 64 and SLi PCI Express video cards with lust in my heart...

cheers

PS - make sure you have a way to anchor those pedals; they tend to slide away from you (and you must protect the USB cable-just jamming the thing up against the wall can result in Bad Things happening)

she-who -must be-obeyed often issues the plaintif cry- "more money spent on a 20 game" as another parcel gets delivered ;but when you look at other interests like golf or supporting your local football (soccer) team its pretty cheap in the long run- one day she might even believe this http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Well, let me consider and calculate.... one moment please...

(Start, Programs, Accesories, Calculator... retrieving the hardware-ever-bought receipts, starting up the All-Games-I've-ever-bought-database, Ctrl-Alt-E to bring up the EURO-calc-thingy, typing, typing more, adding, summing ... Select-all-through-merge-by-date-IL2-got-published.... calculating... checking temps.. wait ... wait ... 'TimeOverflow' in log...)

Yup, UR-> http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif Ain't it big fun?

Yeah Rumpole of the Bailey -fine tv seriese from the late seventies baised on books of John Mortimer. Truthfully she aint that bad -just shakes her head and mockingly rolls her eyes sometimes but never complains although it is a fair wedge of cash that I have laid out over the past year.
