Hi all,

I've just uploaded the new version of IL2-MAT Manager, version 2. This is a major version release as it incorporates support for a future Pacific Fighters game version (3.03 ?) which will support non-clearance of the \PaintSchemes\Cache folder.

In the Control Panel section you will find a new option titled PF v3.03+ (No IL2-MAT Needed). To the left of this is a check box, click on it to select and place a tick in this box as shown below. When you exit the program all MAT files will be copied to their new location.

When the game version is released to support this feature don't forget that before you run the game make sure that you right click on the IL2-MAT icon located in your system tray and then click on "active" to remove the tick next to "active" or click on "Exit" to de-activate or close down IL2-MAT.

Launch the game and your choice of markings should be displayed instantly without any loading delays as previously was often the case. When you are happy that all is working you can then use the Windows Add/Remove fature to un-install IL2-MAT and its associated il2fbhook.dll.

Please note that the above will only work with a future version of Pacific Fighters that supports this feature. If you do not have one of these versions then you will need to leave your conf.ini un-changed and leave the PF v3.03+ (No IL2-MAT Needed) check box un-ticked. You will then be able to continue using IL2-MAT Manager in conjunction with IL2-MAT to choose and display your choice of markings. This ensures that IL2-MAT Manager remains fully backward-compatible with the original IL-2 Sturmovik game as well as IL-2 Forgotten Battles, Ace Expansion and Pacific Fighters versions prior to version 3.03.

Also included in the new version are a extra option to display Greek 335 squadron coding and lettering and reduced size Dutch orange triangle markings. As the previous problem with the RAAF, RNZAF and RN markings sharing one MAT file and therefore one marking has been fixed in the game, I have separated these markings and there are now seperate drop-down boxes for the selection of alternative RAAF/RN and RNZAF markings. I have also changed the "ZZ" coding that appears on Luftwaffe aircraft when "none" is selected as the regiment into a fictitious but more hitorically pleasing "D1" coding. Lastly I have changed the program code to detect either "il2.exe" or "pf.exe" (as used by Pacific Fighters stand-alone installations) so when the program attempts to detect your IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles or Pacific Fighters installation it will attempt to detect either of these program executables.

The new version also includes all improvements to USAAF/USN randomised and non-randomised. weathered/un-weathered numbering that I introduced in the two add-on pack released since version 1.95.

Some good news for modem users I have also managed to shave nearly 5.5 MegaBytes off of the size of the download by using newer compression settings.

My thanks to all who lobied for the games changes that facilitated the new MAT file copy method and to Oleg Maddox and his team for kindly including them in the future and the beta testers for all of their continued help and support.

Please read the enclosed program documentation for full details on installing/re-installing IL2-MAT Manager and the new features added in this version.

As is customary with a major version release I did a few funny spoof pictures http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

My pleasure m8,

I thought I'd release version 2 as soon as it was ready and in advance of the game supporting it so that when the version comes out that does so those with v2 will be able to hit the road running as they say http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Great stuff. Don`t want to be a party pooper, but what if any future versions don`t support this? Personally, I wouldn`t tempt fate and wait until it was released. Maybe I understood wrong.

But D\L anyway! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hi all,

If the patch doesn't support it then you're no worse off. Just leave the option in the Control Panel un-checked and keep on using IL2-MAT with IL2-MAT Manager http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Thanks guys,

The rar self-executable takes such a long time to un-compress because it has much higher compression than WinZip. On its highest compression setting and by making a "solid" archive I was able to cut the total size of the download by approximately 5.5 Megabytes compared to the previous version. The archive contains about 70,000 files (somthing that WinZip cannot handle, it has a 65,000 file limit). It takes a while to un-compress 70,000 or so files at high compression http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif but I do like WinRAR as it offers higher compression and, IMO an easier user interface compared to WinZip. It will also remember past unzip paths so that if you havve your FB folder somewhere other than its default location the you haven't got to change the path from the default every time you run a MAT Manager installer.

Merry Christmas guys

Thanks for v2 Aces.

Best explanation of the British class system you'll ever find http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Arthur: Old woman!
Dennis: Man!
Arthur: Man. Sorry. What knight lives in that castle over there?
Dennis: I'm thirty-seven.
Arthur: I-- what?
Dennis: I'm thirty-seven. I'm not old.
Arthur: Well, I can't just call you 'Man'.
Dennis: Well, you could say 'Dennis'.
Arthur: Well, I didn't know you were called 'Dennis'.
Dennis: Well, you didn't bother to find out, did you?
Arthur: I did say 'sorry' about the 'old woman', but from the behind you looked--
Dennis: What I object to is that you automatically treat me like an inferior!
Arthur: Well, I am King!
Dennis: Oh, King, eh, very nice. And how d'you get that, eh? By exploiting the workers! By 'anging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society. If there's ever going to be any progress with the--
Woman: Dennis, there's some lovely filth down here. Oh! How d'you do?
Arthur: How do you do, good lady? I am Arthur, King of the Britons. Who's castle is that?
Woman: King of the who?
Arthur: The Britons.
Woman: Who are the Britons?
Arthur: Well, we all are. We are all Britons, and I am your king.
Woman: I didn't know we had a king. I thought we were an autonomous collective.
Dennis: You're fooling yourself. We're living in a dictatorship: a self-perpetuating autocracy in which the working classes--
Woman: Oh, there you go bringing class into it again.
Dennis: That's what it's all about. If only people would hear of--
Arthur: Please! Please, good people. I am in haste. Who lives in that castle?
Woman: No one lives there.
Arthur: Then who is your lord?
Woman: We don't have a lord.
Arthur: What?
Dennis: I told you. We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week,...
Arthur: Yes.
Dennis: ...but all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting...
Arthur: Yes, I see.
Dennis: ...by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs,...
Arthur: Be quiet!
Dennis: ...but by a two-thirds majority in the case of more major--
Arthur: Be quiet! I order you to be quiet!
Woman: Order, eh? Who does he think he is? Heh.
Arthur: I am your king!
Woman: Well, I didn't vote for you.
Arthur: You don't vote for kings.
Woman: Well, how did you become King, then?
Arthur: The Lady of the Lake,... [angels sing] ...her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water signifying by Divine Providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. [singing stops] That is why I am your king!
Dennis: Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
Arthur: Be quiet!
Dennis: Well, but you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!
Arthur: Shut up!
Dennis: I mean, if I went 'round saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!
Arthur: Shut up, will you? Shut up!
Dennis: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system.
Arthur: Shut up!
Dennis: Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I'm being repressed!
Arthur: Bloody peasant!
Dennis: Oh, what a give-away. Did you hear that? Did you hear that, eh? That's what I'm on about. Did you see him repressing me? You saw it, didn't you?

BTW Aces, although I have mapped Hyperlobby correctly in IL-2 MAT Manager, and copied the hook .dll file in that folder, I get the default markings everytime I launch. Same is true if I use the normal shortcut for the game instead of the IL-2 Mat shortcut on the systray.

Any ideas?

Aces_High_2

Hi,

This sounds like a problem with the il2fbhook.dll ?. If the game launches from within MAT Manager okay (using il2.exe) and IL2-MAT copies the markings files but you don't get markings when launching from within hyperlobby or from the desktop icon (using il2fb.exe)then this is a pretty good indication that something's amiss with the il2fbhook.dll.

I have re-uploadedthe older il2fbhook.dll that doesn't support fp.exe as used in stand-alone installs but supports il2.exe and il2fb.exe.

Please unzip this dll file to your il2-mat folder and see if it solves your problems.

il2fbhook.dll older version with no PF.exe support download link. (http://www.aces-artwork.co.uk/il2mat_v11_setup+HookDLL.zip)

LOL Wolfiedog http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif,

I don't generally have a problem with time dragging http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. I do find that I tend to stay out of bright sunlight though, hurts my eyes but not a big problem during the British winter season. I've become a creature of the night, venturing out of my burrow during the hours of darkness, also keeps me away from Buffy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Hi m8,

Let me see if I can work it out. When you launch FB from within IL2-MAT Manager it uses il2.exe. When you launch FB from either the desktop icon or from Hyperlobby it uses il2fb.exe.

The il2fbhook.dll files detect either il2.exe, il2fb.exe or in the case of the latest version of the dll il2.exe,il2fb.exe and pf.exe (as used by stand-alone PF installs).

I'm using the latest dll and I flew on hyperlobby last night, I do several times a week and when the game launched through Hyperlobby (using il2fb.exe) IL2-MAT detected this and did all the MAT file copy when (courtesy of the il2fbhook.dll) it detected the game launching.

Can you please send me details of your IL2-MAT and Hyperlobby configs, maybe a couple of screen grabs would be best. IL2-MAT is running and "active" ?. You have the il2fbhook.dll in your IL2-MAT folder ?. Another thing to check is that the version of il2fbhook.dll in your IL2-MAT is the correct one. Sometimes unzipping the newer dll file to your IL2-MAT folder can fail with IL2-MAT running. IL2-MAT needs to be exited and then the dll copied/unzipped into its folder. Then re-start IL2-MAT. This is because IL2-MAT is using the dll when you try and replace it.

Cheers and regards

Aces
