Hi,
Maybe it's silly question, but what is that thing on a reflector gun sight:

What is set with it? Is it usable in the game?

Greetings.

Many Reflector gunsights had adjustments that could be made to factors like range, depression(for air to ground use), brightness etc, but the only plane in the game that any of this is implemented is the P-51D-20 with the K-14 Gyroscopic sight.

The "Acemaker" gunsight on the P-51D can be adjusted but not anyone else's.

Beside, tovarich, the most expert workers at the factory know what is best for your fine craft. If you touch it it may be a sign of a doubting mind. Unsurety leads to defeatism. Not one step back!

And if you get as close as I do before pulling the trigger adjusting the sight won't matter...he's going down one way or another!

There is actually a fully working spitfire gunsight on ebay in the uk at the moment that is on a base and works as has a power supply to it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ..........

see

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4721&item=6505906688&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

as you can see from some of the pictures you can dial on the plane you want to optimise the sight for

Yeah, the K-14 has the same thing, but it's too fiddly to be messing with in a dogfight so I just lock the gyros and use good old-fashioned Kentucky windage to hit the target.

By the time I get within range of a 109 to start shooting now it's as be as a Ju-88, so do I change the sight base from 109 to Ju-88?, and now the gyros are bouncing around....oh ****, I overshoot and now the "Acemaker" sight has killed me again! Oh, the horrors of war.

Wow! It's marvelous, but too expensive for me. I have to look for some cheaper, ordinary reflector gunsight http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It would be very nice to have real working gunsight. Not necessarily taken out of real plane (like that one you gave link to), but even current reproduction. I would place it near monitor while playing IL2 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
