I€ll be designated driver then€¦

I€m surprised these haven€t been posted before (maybe they have?). They€ve been around for a few weeks. I€ve been told they are from a PC gaming magazine (for Pilots).

It might be a good idea if someone can mirror/host them.

Note: there are several pages of preview pictures.

Tyey are the newest I've seen, but not made using the new game engine (I don't think so anyway). You can't really see any environment so it doesn't really matter one way or the other.

Does anyone know if 93 is in fact the right number for Cheam? It's potential little slip-ups like this that could ruin things.

Nice! I already smell the smoke burning off my cpu, but London should be quite a site right before the meltdown. I'm only going to assume these are high-res models rendered in a 3d program, why else would you model individual lions on a monument for a combat flight sim?

That monument doesn't have too many polys, the whole effect is achieved with great textures. The model itself is rather basic.

I presume they would only load at the highest resolution when you are very close (say somewhere between 100m-400m maybe), they would be lower poly versions from distace. Hopefully we will be able to alter those (loading) distances in the conf. file. so that those with better machines (or playing it in the future) will be able to turn the detail up.

Impressive.

Most of the buildings don't have much extra detail over what FB was capable of (anyone flown downtown St. Petersburg in-game recently?) but what has improved massively is the texture quality and resolution. This will look stunning and I don't think we'll pay as heafty a price as some think.

There's alot of quality here but not rediculous poly counts.

I was thinking similar. To be precise:

First thought: "http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I wants to fly into it!"
Second thought: "I wonder how fast I can fly into that thing?"
Third thought: "I can't wait to have a Spitfire tailing me slam into it..."

Yes, I am extremely small minded. Let me have my fun.

About Big Ben:

That's probable, IMHO. All it has to do is take the game time and throw an approximation on there. But I'm not certain: the F.E.A.R director commentary said that modelling a clock that kept accurate time to excessive resources, both of the designers and the system (apparently the test machines would drop about 30 FPS) but I'm not certain if it's the same effect here, because I believe Oblivion and other game I've played kept large timers, and many planes already have clocks in them. I might be totally wrong, but isn't it just scaling that up?

It looks as some of the shots were in fact made using the (or a) new engine. Look closely at the way the shadows are rendered, it's different from the current engine, where shadows are projected polys.

Tower Bridge scrubbed up nicely. I'm pretty sure that in the 1940's it was covered in soot http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think it was only in the past twenty years or so that London monuments have been cleaned.

It's important that a flight simulator gets these details right.

You see THAT`S why too early release dates are good.We have official November 2006 so ingame screenshots with planes should appear shortly. We`ve had plenty of screenies for FB early but this time Oleg wants to keep things secret.Although I think he`ll be pressed by Ubi to publish some teasing screens.

I mean the anticipation goes two ways. One way is that the longer you take, the higher expectations get.And few really big games proved the anticipation eventually dies and expectations are too big.Already ppl are expecting BoB to be on par with M$FSX or better.

People really went nuts when they saw Oleg saying we`ve got turbulences, different temps at diff. alts.Well implementing a fully realistic DM into every plane is a piece of cake then!

So far I`ve seen only one done external and that was a Hurric`n without background. How it looked?Average at best IMO.

Don`t expect videos to appear any earlier than right before BoB goes gold.

I remember when we got FB postponed from November 2002(?) to March2003.I was furious at that moment though had plenty of hard work to do and didn`t even notice when FB went gold.

It will eventually get here.People that have lives don`t even get to follow the development sometimes.

Mine's very understanding of my hobbies - why only last night she didn't come home so as not to spoil my 'aeroplane games' as she calls it. Thoughtfully stayed the night in a hotel with Mr Gonzales, her tango instructor. He's ever so attentive - even sends her cards and flowers when she's not ill. 'Mi amore' - Spanish for 'star pupil' apparently, quite proud of the old girl, really.

She's off to her Marks and Spencers meeting tonight - must be saving up for a Christmas hamper or something - funny thing though, you'd think a firm like that would pay more attention to their membership cards. Hers says 'S & M Club'. Some silly typo, I suppose.

Oh well, back to re-arranging my bus ticket collection...

Gonzales is not a Spanish surname, but a US-Spanish deformation of González, the real one. Gonzales is only used in South-USA, North-Mexico, and no -Argentinian- tango there. Well, no *vertical* tango. Check for the *horizontal* version. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

It would be really nice detail to have big ben clock ticking http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif, I think according to HW requirements the clock would be no problem at all (e.g. flashpoint ,HD2) and probably more games did that. However I'm sceptical about working tower bridge. That's totally different kind of detail. But if it would be the only rising bridge in a game it would be done easily too.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
