Hi!

This new game project (it's a flight sim) was uncovered at E3; look at several details such as the forests...

This game is under development by 1C company; some websites stated that the actual IL2 team is working on it!

If it has Hueys you can fly, and a reasonable excuse for doing so, I'll buy it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Ever since the first time I strapped an AH-64 on to my virtual butt in Janes Longbow, I have wished for someone to do a good Huey sim.

Oleg has stated that several small details that have been included in FB:AEP/PF (for example the forest=3 trees in towns and villages) were not only develloped for this series, but that in fact they were included as a sort of beta test for ideas and technologies that would allso be incorporated into other games 1C is working on.

Makes me wonder if there is any chance we may ever see AI ground infantry set up somewhat similar to the vehicles supply convoys we have now, ie, they are there, they move as a group and follow simple waypoints, they will fire at enemy targets when they come in range, but they arent real bright.
They could use something similar to what the bailed pilot does now, but instead of diving to the ground and covering his head, he dives to the ground, looks around and shoots at any enemy target he can 'see'.
It would go a long way toward improving the 'cover the landing' style scenarios that we have a lot of in Pacific Fighters, if there were infact guys running up the beach.
They wouldn't have to be highly detailed, or for that matter very 'smart', just being able to give basic waypoints in the FMB, and have them behaving aggressively toward any enemy target should be enough.

Anyway, a Vietnam chopper sim obviously (or at least hopefully)involves a somewhat intelligent ground soldier behaviour code, I just hope that one day we may see some of that 'retrofitted' to the FB series.
One can allways hope. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Unfortunately, the Vietnamese used Russian aircraft. Therefore, we can be sure that the United States aircraft will be nerfed and the others beefed up.

Yeah, sure. Well, do you know what _you_ are?

You're just another sad individual who starts his/hers pitiful whining before having even seen the game...

Aye, I've not seen the game. But I have seen three others by the same company. What I have not seen is a reason to believe that he will change direction three hundred and sixty degrees by giving American aircraft their due!

No, it is not true. Oleg's team doesn't have any relation to this game. Olthough the "Whirlwind of Vietnam" team works within the 1C company, they use their own 3D and physics engine.
Any models or textures from the "Maddox Games" aren't being used in the WoV.
This is the first hand info, straight from the MG team members.

P.S. AerialTarget, the fact, that you can't fly the US planes correctly in the PF game, doesn't mean, this planes are badly modelled there. IMHO, the US planes are one of the best (if not the best) performers in the PF/FB, particulary the later types, like Mustang or Corsair, or even the Lightning.

Uh, a 360degree turn is not a change in direction, but I know what you mean.

...by giving American aircraft their due!

..."their due"... hey, maybe he has already but you just haven't noticed yet?

But OK, let's say that you've got a legit beef here. Well if so, then please by all means back up your claims with credible data! Because if you DON'T - and this is important - you just sound like every other whining moron here, and that - as you very well know - only serves in demolishing your _own_ credibility.

You catch my drift here?

I already have, and many times, with official date. And I have been ignored. I will waste my time doing that no longer. He is not reasonable, and neither are the American haters here.

Saqson, I don't have Pacific Fighters, but back in the day when I flew Forgotten Battles online, I wasn't a bad pilot, and I flew the Me-109. Do you know what I thought whenever I saw an American plane other than the P-51? I thought, "Easy kill."

I will waste my time doing that no longer.

...but think that p**ssing and moaning without proof is somehow more appropriate instead? How strange.

Also, you don't own the latest version of the game (i.e. don't know what's cooking nowadays) and you're STILL complaining? How strange again.

Well, each to their own of course. But as regards your credibility, aviational or otherwise... well, let's just say that this "360 degrees change of direction" blurb of yours didn't really amplify it either http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

No, buster, you just _have_ to do better than that, or risk being labeled as a worthless noisemaker. Sad but true!

Amazing. How quickly an informative thread can descend into CHT.

Thanks for the heads up, an interesting sim by the looks of it.

Just a quick FYI

1C is a company that represents about 1300 development companies in Russia.

I just picked up one of their brochures at E3. I also get the impression that the EU in general is more interested in Flight Sims on a whole. The US is heading more towards console this year.

I can't blame them in some cases. Pop the DVD in and Play no drivers no hardware hassles just play.

On the other hand I don't like a lot of console games.

At first i thought this game looked kinda...eh, ok...but then i did my 360 degree turn, and now I THINK IT ROCKS! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
In all seriousness though, i hope they beef up those trees, and as Aerial_Target said, properly represent the US forces as the all out unstoppable, not able to be shot down by anything, bunch of guys we were in vietnam

If they'd accurately modeled the real Huey and the threats if faced back in 'Nam, it would be almost unplayable. Almost 5,000 rotary wing aircraft were lost during this war and half of it were Hueys.

I read the SimHQ E3 preview of this sim. It looks VERY promising. Especially when you consider that, according to the report, it is in a VERY early alpha stage.

I too would like a good helicopter sim. I don't think anything really good, and new has been developed sinse before Windows XP was released.

Cammanche 4 was fun, but it was arcade. Still FUN, but I'd like a little more to sink my teeth into.

And of course I have a hankering for a good tank sim.

regards,
Robert

PS......... I'm American, and I for one DON'T feel an anti American bias in the game.... the forums.... OR in my mind.

Aerial Target, American planes may have been easy to shoot down to you, but I would think it's because you are an exceptional pilot. NOT AN ANTI AMERICAN BIAS.

First flight sim I ever got my hands on was Gunship, back on my old Amiga 500+(flash at the time, LOL), and have always had a fondness for GOOD helo sims...I'll be keeping an eye on this one, thanks for the heads up http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)

I can confirm the search engine still does not work properly. Can't even search for my own posts properly

sorry to broach this twice. I rarely come here anymore, not since the promised patch for pacific fighters has taken so long.

I still look forward to PF patch though, and when I saw this choppa simulation I just had to trot right over to here, not seeing anything on the first page or so I posted.

I think this choppa sim will have very limited appeal outside the US and perhaps Australia if our choppa fleet is included.

I mean who is going to play the enemy?? A DM style AA player?? Or a north vietnamese fixed wing jockey?? Don't know how thats going to work as I do not think that the other side had choppas.

also how will it stack up against the new operation flashpoint by BIS and the one by codemasters?? If choppas are done correctly in these games their is much more scope.
But then again these games do not focus on nam

Saw a blurb about this awhile ago then couldn't find it again. Thanks for posting, Skypoet. The Bell is about all I fly in FS9 these days so a heli sim by 1C is the best news since BoB.

looks nothing like il2s engine, looks a bit like strikefighters a bit. I would never buy that either just dont trust ubi getting allied ac even remotely close or weapons strenght.

I think the il2 engine would make an excellent chopper sim tho if they scaled the buildings and trees correctly.

This engine with its small square maps, limited 1000m view distance has very nice graphics low alt but fps killer.

Above 2000-3000 game is so harsh looking which would make it perfect for a chopper sim.
