Yes.

When they decide to.

For a given value of 'soon'.

Would it really kill them to promote their game just a little? Or even give a something, screenie or two, an update, a release date, of the Aad-on that is supposedly on the verge of being released? I just don't undersatnd how they do things. I love their products but it's like they don't want people to hear about them.

I posted this in the General Discussion in response to "harold x" post of "at least give an update" and thought I would post it over here as well...

I think that he is looking for some new screenies or some kind of official comment of which none have been posted since the initial announcement that I am aware of and that has been 2 months ago already. Oleg and team are undoubtedly very busy getting SoW:BoB together. I am a very patient person but I do wonder sometimes why all this time has gone by after it was said that there would be weekly updates after E3. It would be nice just for a quick "This is what we are working on right now" kind of thing and with a screenie or two to keep the masses at bay and to get the potential new comers to this sim interested in it. There could be a lot of positive publicity out there already about a sim of such high quality and realism but instead this wonderful sim seems to be shrouded in secrecy. Unless you are already in the know there really is not too much on the web about it. It is a shame really. Even those of us who are anxiously awaiting this new title from Oleg do not know that much about it. I do sincerely hope that this all changes soon.

Agree whole heartedly with above. I love what Oleg has done for flight simming. His products are great. I just don't understand why he is keeeping them a secret. I am certainly no expert on the subject, but it seems to me the marketing of his products is awful. What little I have seen of Storm of War looks great. Why not promote it. Give us screeenies, gives us video clips. Give us updates. Make the public aware! I know he is busy but realistically how much time could It take to post a pic here and there. think Oleg works hard, and would love to see him make a ton of cash and continue to make flight sims. I wish for him only the best. But I think he needs a new marketing team.

Well, if they are still not content with the terrain engine some news without screenshots will do just fine... Something like this would make my day (excuse my poor olegish):

Hi guys!

I know you all want terrain image of BoB engine. We are right now working at full power to bring you this. The programmers are busy right now reprogramming AI code for bomber formations and no news due to this. Progress is good and all terrain elements are done 100% but lighting and shaders still in work. We hope in two weeks to give you new screenshots of Spitfire over Dover.

You would make a good PR m8 for Oleg.

@ Oleg: Put this m8 on a salary to keep up with the m8s around here asking pertinent questions from time to time. Rubles will do. He will work cheap. HEHE

Actually, there will be no graphics associated with BoB. The competition would then steal the ideas and put Oleg out of business. Therefore only a black screen will be seen while playing the new sim. Seriously, I'm wondering if the whole thing is in re-work after seeing the screens of microsoft's new sim.

A few screenshots isn't too much to ask. Now it's more like an anti-PR campaign.

I know Oleg is busy, but doesn't Ubisoft have an entire PR department that can handle this?

That thought crossed my mind until I downloaded the FSX demo. FSX still has buildings floating on crappy ground textures. I know its a demo but I think its the price they have to pay for modelling one big world map.

Well FSX demo doesn't look like the screens shown of the full game either. Its a directx9 version of a directx10 game. But after 3 years and they say no more to show this year. Sounds like a punt to me.
I guess vista could be causing some of the delay, but directx10 and vista are still going to be the exception rather than the norm for quite some time. I'm wondering if GMX hasn't got some cards to play also. If FSX allows for combat mods GMX already has alot of WW2 planes ready to go. Depsite some problems, GMX's BoB2 (IMO) has some really good things going for it too. The sound, smoke, sky and tracers already kills IL2's. That said IL2 is still by far my favorite.

I've seen it. Still no in game shots or videos. Looks just a little better than the Tempest pit (IMO) in the current game engine even. I'm still very dissapointed in the marketing on SoW. Maybe we are not worthy. Some competition must have them hiding under the blanket, heck I'd be happy if they'd just say who that was, it looks like Oleg already stole their marketing techniques. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Remember, you won't see any screenshots of BoB aircraft outside the AI Bubble centered on the player's aircraft, which is similar in idea to Rowan's AI Bubbles used in original BoB-1 and MiG Alley.

Oleg poasted that he will not allow External View of aircraft that are using the Simplified flight model that will be used outside the AI Bubble centered on the player's plane. I agree this is something players will not want to see and watch happen in a dogfight, and is why I am opposed to AI Bubbles, as there are other, more realistic, ways to allow very large bomber formations without killing framerates.

You got nice screens of objects last week, A superb shot with the Spitfire in the hangar two days ago, you still cry and want more. You want videos already. If you get videos this week, next week you'll come again bit**ing that you want a demo so you can try them.

Hey Jaws KMA. What are you anyway, Oleg's cheer leader? I'll tell you what I am, probably one of the best customers they got. I've bought the current sim 5 times. Once for me and 4 more for gifts. Its no doubt the best WWII sim on the market. You've got 1000 people in here complaining about things in the current sim (not me), like most have ever flown a warbird anyway. I have been reading the forums for years and I feel their PR on SoW is nothing but laughable. First announced in 2003 and guessing by what has been shown of it so far, they got about 3 more years. So you tell me, you think they need customers or cheerleaders?

VW-IceFire

Considering that they still didn't have any planes in the engine at E3 and that we've only just seen the first shot of someone sitting in a cockpit of a plne that is probably in the game...

There probably wasn't anything worth showing. I'm guessing most of the work done so far was on the underlying technology such as physics and AI. Important stuff...but not something you can really take a picture of. That'd be my guess.

Maybe there's some rumor fighting, but people have pointed out a fact: IL-2 (and consequently BOB) has a TERRIBLE publishing work.

8 out of 10 people that I get to know, who either already play or have interest in flight simulation DON'T EVEN KNOW Oleg's IL-2. And, at least here in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil, it is not common to find IL-2 in a regular PC store. Novalogic's bag of **** (F-22, F-16, Mig-29 and so on), however, are the complete opposite... even if a person doesn't like or hasn't even tried the games, he/she does know about it.

Jim81

Totally agree...also here in italy , people know about microsoft products for flying sims and most of people dont even know the existance of Sturmovik series.

I also saw some screens from a Russian preview of Bob i think they should make something to spread the voice about the existance of this future air sim if they want to gain enough $ and develope new titles !

Same here is the US. I introduced 5 new people to the game recently, they've never heard of it and 3 of the five had bought a played flight sims before.
