Found this on YouTube. If it's already been posted I did't know. Anyways, I'm sure Cajun will enjoy.

Good find, I've been scouring YouTube for WWII aviation stuff but missed this one.

I think we need a sticky for these things. A Formula One board I post on made a sticky for YouTube F1 vids, to keep the 'new thread' count down.

What do you say, Mods?

I agree. It would be nice to have an a/c video sticky limited to certain categories such as WW2, crash, civil, aerobatics, copters, and the like. The poster would define the video posted with a category since some subjects are of no interest to others.

Eventually, we'd have quite a collection.

Whaddya think mods?

Well Biggs, somehow I had managed to miss it on its previous appearance. Thanks, Pirsch.

This is another good reason for the sticky thread... if they are all consolidated in one place, there will be less duplication.

Here's proofs to support the P-51 campaign. I've taken the time to explain in great detail.

Well, I've sent PM to the mods about the sticky issue. We'll see what they say.

97 lost.

I think that was war time total

it talked about those 175 aircraft setting off on 16 March 45 so I read it that the rest of that text referred to the same day.

can anyone clarify? anyone know anything about that day?

Thanks Pirsch, I always enjoy that one. I even have it on my hardrive somewhere. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

As for the 97 lost, that is probably due to all causes. Their primary task was close support. Flak, fighters and even environmental hazards like trees and power lines, although I've seen pics of a tree losing to an encounter with a Thunderbolt. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

almost certainly all causes - still, a hell of a day....

Ivan said he thought the YouTube WWII video sticky was a good idea, but they are limited on the amount of stickies we can have in this forum.

I always thought strategic bombing won the war personally. Nice vid though. P47 is my fave.

I thought I was done flying for the night and then had to go and watch that, now I have to put my goggles and scarf back on.

I spotted some noseart I liked in that video. Towards the beginning, they show one taxi by bearing "Haulin' *** II" with a donkey. Does anybody have a still picture of this noseart?

Page 6, on the right is the Jug.

Lt. Richard P. Sulzbach is the culprit.

TonyT has a bit of the story with a skin.

At the bottom of this page is some pics, second down is the Jug in tatters. Flew 120 miles in this condition. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I found this story while searching for the article. I couldn't find the complete account, but all this above is basically the same info.

Note that the plane was probably doing 450-500+ http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Not sure which plane, if any, won the war, but without the Hurri and Spit, and the pilots from multiple nationalities that flew them, there wouldnt have been a war left to win.

Not only him, we all do, thanks for posting. Excellent vid, and the (I believe so) ex post facto added sounds add a lot to it, though they didn't seem to get the R-2800 much from what I've heard from a Corsair.

Interesting article for a lot of reasons, Page 2 might explain the difference between the sounds of R-2800 installations. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
