BOE was released a while back by Just Flight. It features some skins and a bunch of missions, campaigns, etc. It is an excellent addition to the game but its purchase depends totally on what you plan on doing with FB. For online the addition is practically worthless and I kinda whish I hadn't picked it up. But if you enjoy the offline play, the missions and campaigns are far better than the ones offered with the original product and are highly detailed and well scripted, they do get a bit boring after while. But that's just my opinion.

S!
Did you know any report about conflicts installing PF over Battle over Europe or Combat over Europe add-ons/FB/AEP ?
Thanks,

I installed PF over BOE with no problems.

How about Stab 4.3 ?
Thanks,

I doubt there would be a conflict with Stab. I could be wrong, but I've never seen it as a concern on the boards, and logically the nature of BOE's content doesn't lend itself to problems with the Stab utility.

First, its important to know what BOE gives you and what it doesn't ...

BOE doesn't 'add' anything new per se, just more of Starshoy's DGen and NGen campaigns plus some custom skins that I think are randomized into the dynamic campaign mix. If you like the pilot career system of "IL-2 Forgotten Battles" then BOE is more of the same, albeit improved.

BOE is a quasi-official release and represents an evolution in the partnership between Oleg Maddox and two key third-party contributors, Starshoy (wrote DGen campaign system) and Luthier aka Ilya who subsequently headed up the organization of Pacific Fighters 3-D modelers. Basically, Luthier created the Ardennes and Normandy maps plus ground objects exclusively for BOE, and would have preferred to have them the exclusive domain of the BOE product I think but in the end the decision was made to release those maps and a flyable Mustang and AI B-17G and C-47 in the FB 1.21 patch. So basically, everybody who downloaded that patch got the neccessary maps and objects to make the BOE campaigns work should they choose to purchase BOE. (I'd imagine that upgrade patch is also on the BOE discs).

Shortly after, the official UbiSoft product "Ace Expansion Pack" was released that included not only the Normandy and Ardennes maps/objects (again) but also four flyable versions of the Mustang, two versions of the P-38, and four versions of the Spitfire V. Starshoy updated the BOE campaigns to include these planes and others from AEP -- there is a patch for BOE available at the JustFlight website. Note that Starshoy's patch won't work if you don't have AEP installed however.

The bottom line is that BOE increases your options for pilot career to finally allow dynamic U.S. and RAF fighter campaigns in the style of the Russian, German, Finnish and Hungarian campaigns native to FB.

Actually it does add the US and British career modes for everyone who has not found them with the FREE user made campaigns available @ Netwings & on other sites.
BOE is defiantely a necessary item in my opinion.
FB+ACE+BOE+PF = the current version 3.0+

But with PF, the Great Britain file disappears. Can you still play it?

Yes...It's RAF now, but it is still there.

RAF? I don't have that. I have RN and RAAF but no RAF

It is the following in no particular order:

1. The single best add on ever created for any game that has ever been made.
2. the best and most exciting varied missions ever offered .
3. great briefings, the very best in the entire IL2 series
4. the very best enemy AI in any of the campaigns for the entire series.
5. you can fly P-51s, P-47s and P-38 for Americans in varied campaigns that range from bomber escort to ground pounding.
6. some great german western front campaings including, Me-109, FW-190,ME-110 and even ME-262.
I played it exclusively for the last 5 months, so I know what i am talking about.

Buy 2 of them because you are going to want to buy a back up just in case. it's that good.\

Be sure to instal the 2 BOE patches available.

Here is a link to a very recent thread with lots of info on BOE

It has been stated on another forum that PF broke BOE. It appears here that some users have FB+AEP+BOE+PF running without problems. Could someone post verification of that combination plus any anecdotal evidence of success?

Here.

So far (touch wood or press board in the case of my cheap desk) I have been running FB+AEP+BOE+PF with no problems.

I posted on SimHQ that I felt PF had broken BoE. What I have felt as being broken is how the AI behave. In all of the BoE missions I have flown since updating to PF, I've found the AI planes to fly irratically. They fequently stray significantly off the flight path, they perform very sharp changes in course for no apparent reason, the vary speed and altitude more than usual and, worst of all, they regularly fly into each other, including me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif Just sit there keeping good formation and wait for the next flight to fly straight into the rear of you!

Before PF I experienced none of these problems with BoE (all I found were frequent impossible rendezvous with bombers), nor do I experience these problems with PF campaigns.

Might be interested in BOE for the I-16 campaign. Question - Could I install it (with patches) into my existing FB+AEP+PF game? Or do I need to start over and install FB,AEP,BOE (+ patches) then + PF?

There is no I-16 campaign in BoE.
There are campaigns for USAAF and Luftwaffe and with the AEP patch for BoE you get RAf campaigns too.

Thanks mate. Strange, it says over at EB Games (and other sites) that there are "two fifty mission campaigns for the I-16 monoplane and the I-153 biplane."

You're sure right? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

I have so many campaigns on my PC now I forget where they all came from...

Battles over Europe is for Normandy and Ardennes campaigns so I can't see the I-16 or I-153 being particularly relevant to those theatres.

Are you sure you don't mean "Combat over Europe" by Combat Planes - a pale imitator if ever there was one!

Is there any problem installing and running BOE on top of FB+AEP+PF?

Actually yes Extreme - that's the link the thread starter used. However, he makes mention of Battle Over Europe. I'm all confused now! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

So Combat Over Europe isn't very good then?

Might pickup BOE if it shows up on store shelves here in Canada. Again, can I install that after installing PF?

I don't think it will show up on shelves anywhere. Last I heard www.justflight.com (http://www.justflight.com) was the only place to order it from. Can anyone confirm or dismiss this?

The only thing I have to add to this is a heads up since things still don't appear to be that clear:

There are two "...Over Europe" addons:

The first as linked by the original poster is "Combat Over Europe" by gmx media.
http://www.gmxmedia.net/coe/

The second is (referenced in threead title and what initially caught me out)is Just flight's "Battle Over Europe" http://www.justflight.com

Battle Over Europe is generally considered to be the better of the two and is the one I bought - havent installed with PF yet, must give it a go http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. Neither were released by ubi, and both have been out a whilehttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

hope this clears things up a bit for the OP, maybe it makes thins worse I dunno, but I thought I'd add my babbling here in case it is of some use..... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
