Does anyone have any relevant pictures?
Where they all grass strips? What type of cammouflage dispersal procedures were used?
How heavy were the AA defenses?
Where they wide strips or normal runways?

Thanks in advance!

Good Question, but I don't know the answer.

Eastern Front airfields were usually small dirt strips, kinda like the Iwo Jima map airfields on our volcanic island map. Those are my Fave airfields so far.

P~38 pilot wrote about Fw airfields in Italy. Fw~190 flew from bases that were built to operate two (2) aircraft. Hard to find bases like this, according to P~38 pilot.

Depends. For example JG 2 in the Normandie region used four airfields: Boumont-le-Roger, Triqueville, Theville and Le Havre - Octeville (plus sometimes Caen - Carpiquet). All of them were large grass fields with Beaumont being the main base with the best infrastructure (though it had been a simple meadow in between orchards in 1940).

Grass runways (large ones) were more common than concrete or tarmac runways in the 40s as grass was making landings easier and was not as hard on the tyres.
