Silly perhaps to speculate in this way, but for all I know someone here has a very informed opinion as to how long potential upgraders shoud plan to wait.

Any guesses as to where prices might stabilize at a more affordable level?

Curious,

hans

WEll if CompUSA in Mesa, Arizona is any indication...then Perhaps "NEVER"!!!...
They still have the ATI 9700 Pro at $399.00. I asked them about that price & they said,
"when fokes quit buying at that price we'll drop it a bit"...

A tech guy here predicted a 30% drop across the range in the second quarter of next year. I was hoping for more, so I hope he's wrong abouot that...

$10 for stickball bat
$5 for gas money to compusa

2-3 hours of your time to find a rich kid and his dad walking out of compusa with a radeon 9800 256m

I've been told that I should skip the 9600, the 97 or 9800 is a better card, because of the 8 pipes.

it might be some months before they drop $100.

You can pick up a Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB for $306 today from NewEgg. I did last week - and I am very happy! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Well, announced recently is the release of a suped up 9800,
it's dubber the 9800 pro TX (or something like that)
This will cause the Radeon 9800 Pro price to drop.
Good luck!
