I've been messing around with making single missions and one I was doing was 2 small task forces engaging each other.
Problem is I can get them to follow waypoints and when in range of each other they attack each other but they don't activly seek each other.
If one ship of each side doesn't get sunk they both continue on to there respective waypoints.
I tried to get around this by placing ending waypoints in the middle only 300M from each other but they will engage one ship and when that is sunk they either power down since they are at ending waypoint or ignoring the waypoint keep traveling past it in the same general direction at a low rate of speed.
Last test mission I did had 4 US PT vs 5 KM PT and while they did engage each other sinking 2 US and 3 KM the remaining 2 boats on each side just powered down about 1.5km away from each other and stoped fireing.
Is there any way to get them to activly seek and attack in the mission editor?
I read the manual in the game files and also a player made manual I found while searching for info but neither told me anything I hadn't already figured out by just playing with it.
Thanks in advance as per usual.

First and foremost, remember that SH3 is a U-Boat simulator. It is not designed to simulate capital ships. Surface engagements are handled poorly. This is to be expected.

Battleships and cruisers will simply follow way points. If you want them to "stop", then set the waypoint properties so that the speed is zero. The unit will go to that waypoint and then stop.

You cannot get them to actively seek and attack each other.

Only destroyers and destroyer escorts have such AI, but even then it is directed against submerged targets.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Uncheck "delete on last waypoint". It may stop them to proceed.

Don't let them "decide" what to do. They tend to disengage when damaged - it occurs ingame too.
Create for both groups or all individuals at least two looped waypoints at the combatarea
(i.e. 700 m Waypoint radius) to make them "shoot it out" until the end. If you want them to leave the area after the battle you have to create a compete ballet of waypoints wich ensures enough time for the task.

Afair there is no trigger for "if group A is sunk - go home" available.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
