Great stuff, MrBlueSky1960, thanks for sharing. The Lightning is one of my all-time favorite warbirds and it's a shame so few are still in existance. Considering the U.S. sold them postwar for $1250.00 USD including full fuel tanks, you'd think there would be more of them still in flyable condition, but lack of parts is the bane of military aircraft whose time has passed. I hope the Aussie group can get her airborne. That's a pretty exclusive club to be in.

would be cool if we had an early model like that with the streamlined fairings.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Why? The late one with the big fairings is so much cooler. It also has the trademark Lightning yoke.

Hi!

I visited this restoration project in its early stages and I could see these guys had a heck of a lot of work in front of them. In fact, when I studied the photos of the wreckage as it looked when it was found, I would have thought it almost impossible. It's a great buzz for me, to see how far they've come with it. Only pure dedication and love can produce such results! Hats off to 'em!
