any chance of including a free flying camera for to follow the action . i always put the static camera in the wrong place and miss the ground action .

As long as there is enough historical data to make a good FM for the camera.

Fantastic idea. I have been thinking the same for ages, especially for movie making.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Oleg said external views will not work outside the player's AI Bubble. I don't know if that applies to free camera view, but it may, as the reason for not allowing any external view beyond the player's AI Bubble is so you won't see the bizzare things that happen with the simplified flight/AI models beyond the bubble range...or worse, there is *no* AI and all distant combat is computed statistically, perhaps based on "historical" combat results. If that's the case, you can "free cam" as far as you want beyond your squadron or wing and you will find the skies empty of aircraft -- there are none, even if they are defined in the mission, they don't exist in the mission gamerun except as abstract statistic calculation of combat results. Now, it may be possible that "free cam" is limited to the inside of the AI Bubble, and can't operate beyond that space, so the player won't see the bizzare events, or abstracted nothingness as the case may be, beyond the player's AI Bubble.

In other words, noboby knows. AI Bubbles are a relatively new concept, first used in Rowan/Shockwave's BoB and Rowan's MiG Alley.

Some speculative discussion on AI Bubbles here ~> http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63110913/m/2401070284<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I always wanted an ordinance view, you know..the kind you can track your bombs/rockets all the way to the target...a man can dream...a man can dream<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You mean like the one in LOMAC, where the view even followed bullets. That was indeed pretty cool but a little useless because you had to fly the plane on and maybe hit some other targets. But for replays and high-alt bombing runs it would indeed be awsome! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

I would like a free-flying Kamera for sure. How tight that would be.

There may be a way to do it and I'm just dumb, but what I would like is an external camera view that is fixed to a location based of an axis from the center of your aircraft. That way when you view your turning plane you see the ground and sky rotating around the craft, not the craft rotating in the sky.

That might lead to cheating online because people would put the camera directly behind the plane, put a dot on the middle of their screen where the bullets go, and fly from the third person, allowing them to aim/shoot at aircraft that would be under the nose if they were in the cockpit.

I think he meant it could just be added to track replay option. It would not be available while playing, just in the replays.

At the same time, it would be nice to have a rewind feature in the playback! Now these two would be very useful for movie-makers!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Mysticpuma got it right. That way you could get more of a cinema effect from an external view and add a lot to realism in playbacks.

WTH? I say take another year or two but make it all REAL TIME with no "calculations" or bubbles I'm used to no 1000 bombers more like 20, so I don't think there really is a problem<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

External view wouldn't have to be outside the players AI bubble. I'm talking about a chase plane view that you can set up in a static position relative to the plane in a 360 degree sphere. Set it directly looking at the nose of your plane and in replay as your plane turns you never loose the view of the nose, but you see the ground or sky rotating thru the view.

Chase plane will always work. I think, external view is not the same as free flying camera -- FF cam is a view that you can take anywhere on the map, at least that's what I'm thinking. StrikeFighters and Su27 Flaker 2.51 have that.

The problem here is the "anywhere" part. For reason of protecting mental health and emotional stability, we are not supposed to see what happens outside the AI Bubble, so I doubt there will be any FF cam, unless it has artificial borders imposed at the player's AI Bubble edge. How AI Bubbles work for Online play, I don't know. The only other sim that I know that used AI Bubbles was Rowan's MiG Alley and BoB, and they were Offline play only as far as I know.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Perhaps if the camera could just be attatchred to objects that would do it.. be it a tank, a ship.. or an aircraft.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Simple, just make an a/c with no skin that doesn't fly and has a huge bubble.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
