Well i know i was not gone long. about a muonth or so but any way im back. as some of you know awhile back i posted that i would be leaveing the site and online poration of the game. my father who i have taken care of for the the last 10 or so years was sick. he had a bleed in his brain do to horrible health care system and doc's in my town of madison florida.Well my father passed away Jan #1st at around 8:00 in the morning. Thankfully I,my mother and my sister were there with him. sence i have been in the process of moveing as i was not able to keep the house my father and i rented.As well as tring to keep my mind in one piece

Well were i know live there was no high speed net service but i have found a newish way to get online. its a wireless data card from sprint. works just like a cell phone. So far it works as well as my old DSL.so at least i'll be able to keep playing and talking with all of you. Wich i injoy very much. My father used to get a kick out of hearing me talk about online flights in warclouds ect. And was a little proud when i would make it in the top 5 spots in the WC stat page in the planes i liked to fly. Plus i have gotten to know a few of you pretty well and consider many of you buds.now dont start hopeing for long walks on the beach. Stealing your kills is as close to getting ****** as any of you are going to get with me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif Any way just wanted to let ya'll know i was back... As a warning of futer bad fishing threads as any thing else http://media.ubi.com/us/forum_images/gf-glomp.gif

I feel for ya man, coming up on 11 years anniversary of the same myself.
As one friend had told me back in 81;
"You feel like the world should just stop but it doesn't. It just keeps going on."

Sorry to hear about your father but glad to see you back. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm getting ready to take the cellular modem plunge myself. How is yours working out and what model do you have? Is it Revision A?

Our service up here is All-Tel and even with an older EVDO demo card I snagged from work the speeds are incredible (compared to dial-up anyway http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif). Pings are in the 200-300 range on Hyperlobby (solid) and download speeds are around 40-50 kbps.

I bought an SIIG PCI-to_PC card from Newegg and it's working real well with the demo card. Shared Internet connection works great for my home network (I didn't feel like paying $400 for the new KR2 router when it comes out). I'm trying to get a Kyocera KPS680 to demo. If it works well I'm going to take the plunge. It's $60 a month (and the card is free with a two-year contract) but our entire IT department at work uses 'em and they are all heavy gamers (mostly FPS...bleah).

I also have a Sony/Ericcson GPS card. Works here in Michigan but I use it mostly down in Mexico. I do not recommend these cards for gaming. Even in Mexico or San Diego with a solid connection pings are around 500 and download speeds never exceed 20kbps. In Michigan it's even worse solid connection or no.

In truth i realy dont know to much about the tech side of it. but so far it works great. it works off the cell antana's same as the sprint cell phone with means at night when all the cheerleaders are yaping about how thay heard from a friend of a friend that so in so is cheating on so in so my pings go up. normaly in warclouds and spits/zeke's i get 130 to 140 ping in the day and early night and it 8:00 to about 12:00 i get 220 to 300 ping. im right on the edge of what sprint estamates as fair reception but as long as i keep the card in just the right spot in frount of my window i get 3 and 4 bars outa 5. so far zero disconections. the trick is to put it right in frount of a window. i tried the altell or nextell and its actual speed was horrible. pings were in the 500 and up. very poor. so far i cant be happier. the cost right now is 89.99$ with 50.00$ mail in rebate and 49.99 or 59.99 a month for the unlimated use/min . my down load speed is about 150kb/s wich is just 25 less than i got with my old DSL.

thats the modle im useing. hmm seems had i got it online it woulda been free lol@me o well i had no net to do that so im stuck paying 40 or so bucks....im so happy to have fast net i dont realy care http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif i hear in the larger citys it does not work as well as the cell towers get bogged down do to large numbers of users.

Roger that! Very encouraging. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif I've been hesitant to take the plunge. I don't want to pay $60 a month if I can't fly on-line.

I live out in the country on a dirt road and I'm pretty sure my cheerleader shield from high school is still working so I'm not worried about traffic.
