Seems rather pricey as the chap who the log book belongs to was not an ace.
However it seems his sig is rare or hard to find.

Yeah. Maybe an old Cessna 152. With a deteriorating frame that wouldn't pass an annual. And without an engine. Or IFR equipment...

I don't know that seems really steep. Could buy a pretty decent car for that. I wonder how many people could really justify dropping 10,000 pounds on an old note book.

Thats absolutely outragous.

If that were the flight logbook of an Ace, maybe if it were well kept and contained significant information. But for an Observer and Gunner?

The book ought to be in a museam, however I guess that idiot does'nt get it. Oh well. Price on everything.

true, but at least you'd be flying instead of reading about it

I can't abide vultures like the seller of this log-book. I notice that he is prepared to cut up the log-book to extract the pages signed by Guy Gibson and sell them individually. So he doesn't really care about history, just how much money he can make out of a few scribbles. Not much different to grave-robbing imo. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

I saw that as well and thought much the same thing. More than willing to rip it up and sell the 11 pages seperate. That is why I never go to estate sales, very sad often.

No bids because his reserve is waaaay too high. I collect this kinda stuff and have a 1st edition (published 1919) issue of Fighting against the Flying Circus written and personally signed (albeit in 1955) By Eddie Rickenbacker. It's in excellent shape and I can say I've read it a few times. I've had it 3 years and only paid $250USD for it. It was recently appraised at over $1000, but 10,000 pounds?!

Criminy! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

Guy Gibson:

Its difficult to become an ace flying bombers I guess, but he
did have the Victoria Cross and a DFC (more than once).

Makes me really angry http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif to see this sort of History been sold off
on e-bay from whatever country.

I don't mind the bloke selling it, it gives some one who's really interested or perhaps a museum the chance to own it. However the greedy bastard's asking way too much - which he won't get - so he's going to cut it up.
He should be given a good kicking - preferably in the vitals, if you ask me.

Everyone bring it to the attention of the RAF Museum etc you never know, it might make a difference to it being destroyed

HaHa I guess that's the point. If that log book was something special a museum would have already bought it by now. He probably bought it for 9,000! It looks to me like he's throwing S*** against the wall to see what sticks. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif
