View Full Version : You think the new BoB sim will be like the old IL2?

Like the original? No irrelevant planes? Not a lot of whining by the customers? Not a lot of so-called bugs?

I really hope it does. Maybe this forum will make a turn for the better. Maybe.

Maybe they will speed the trim back up so everyone has a chance instead of just the exploiters.

Well, there will be far fewer player flyables to start with (and ultimately as well I imagine).

I agree- quality as opposed to quantity, although FB get the quality and quanity award in my book! There will probably not be the room to develop marginal types due to very high model details (unless 3rd parties do so)

The BoB will make for a great sim, the aircraft involved were well matched.

As to whining... well if there are fewer planes around maybe so, on the other hand it may mean the small points get picked up on more /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Whatever, I'm looking forward to it /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Gunther Rall

If it is like the old IL2, it will be a true classic.

Then Oleg will give in to the whiners and find a way to screw it up.

I'm figuring it'll be totally different.

I think it will be really different too. Some large scale battles and dynamic weather for starters. As far a change in whining, real whining, that means people growing up, not different airplanes. As far as any change in hackoff attitude in this forum, that will require getting a life outside this forum with real flesh and blood. You know...like love, and learning respect for others so you don't get your teeth kicked in.

Im hoping it uses a different sound engine, the syth tone ranges just dont sound real to me. Also I hope they dont use the famous invisable from the side tree groups especially if theres going to be alot of field ranways surrounds by large tree groups.

Yea, I know it's a dream, but I'm really hoping that they give some more flexibility in the BoB sim. After setting up my FS2004 DC-3 with custom engine sounds, and tire squeak sounds, and the custom skins, I'm getting a little spoiled!

Again, I seriously doubt that there will be much user tweaks beyond the skins, but come on, modern sims are easily capable of using a different custom sound for each plane, and very high quality sounds at that. My DC-3 sound effects are over 40MB. And reflective texutures would be nice too... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I think Oleg's BoB will be to its time what IL2 was when it was first released. With structural damage, aircraft stress from previouse damage (or from pulling G's), etc. There will be many new features no sim (that I know of) has. On top of that, it will be large air battles with newer damage models, etc. It will be much more complex, and as a man, more complex=more good. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
