WHEEEEEEHOOOOOOOOO YAHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!

Where did this come from? Many many many thanks Oilburner!!!!!

This is a great time period for a tank sim before the monster late-war uber-tanks!

Downloaded it yesterday and played through both missions tonight. Seems very good considering it is just an alpha version demo. Manual gunnery and rangefinding seem OK although the rangefinding is more guesswork until the intricacies of the different sights and Russian language have been worked out. Manual driving is OK too. Good damage modelling with tracks breaking, hit marks all over the tank as well as penetration holes, dead crew and smoke/fire.

Not much chance to test command skills and strategy yet as you only have one tank to command and the supporting infantry are not controllable either.

Suffers graphically from not being possible to enable antialiasing in the demo, but otherwise the vehicle interiors and exteriors are looking excellent. Just need a bit of weathering on them in the full game and hopefully the ability to look around the interior fully, not just a view straight ahead.

All in all this looks very promising http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Thanks, MadBadVlad---I'm going to install in a few minutes. This looks like a real treat! Have any idea when the finished product is due for release?

Neat! I don't think I've played a decent WWII tank sim yet, and this is ok.

Sucks that I can't blow up the enemy tanks though, no matter how many rounds I put in the magazine.

Reminds me of that "Liberation" mod for OPERATION FLASHPOINT. I wonder if this is a spin-off? I am enjoying the detailed early T-34/76 with the commander/gunner. It isn't as beautiful as the upcoming T-34 VS TIGER, but I like this period when the Germans and Sovs were just about in balance tank-wise.

I had a great time. I got a flank kill on what must have been a Panzer IV with the L24 (short) 75mm. Used Soviet "arrowhead" ammunition (sabot)---the five round ammunition. It penetrated and started a small fire and I finished the bistid with high explosive (I assume the 53 round ammunition is HE, the T-34 usually carried more HE than armor-piercing). I am extremely pleased by the huge amount of detail in this simulator. Notice how impared the commander's visibility in the T-34. He has to operate the gun and command. I guess the sim doesn't allow the commander to command from outside the hatch---no loss---it was Soviet doctrine to fight "buttoned up." Thus, the commander can only see through his telescopic sight. This is why the early T-34s got clobbered. They often did not see the Panzers sneaking up on them. I think this sim, while not exactly a world-beater graphics-wise, is a world-beater realism-wise. It beats PANZER ELITE modded completely. Nice to see the Russians modeled the T-34/76 Model 1941 as it was, and did not give it a break. I'll buy this when it comes available.

I think its Q1 2007 at the moment so anytime before the end of April. It may come out in Russia well before it hits Europe/US though. I quite like the early tanks too. It is not as well polished as T-34 V Tiger, but it is probably the only chance we will get for a long while to play around with early Eastern Front tanks.

I couldn't get anything to explode either, probably a limitation of the alpha code. I quite like the way a tank hit with a sabot round slowly cooks off as the ammo lights up, just smoke at first then a growing fire. Ballistics seem to be quite accurate and not tied to a hit box as you get visual ricochet or penetration damage exactly where your round landed.

You definitely get the fog of battle with this item. You hear AP tinking off you but you can't see the source. You want to go hull down, but with that tele sight being your only view, it's hard to get the lay of the land. My only gripe is that they didn't give you the commander's periscopic sight so you can look 360 degrees without turning the turret. The rest is PhD dissertation-level detail and accuracy. I figured it would be the Russians who eventually would produce the best WWII tank sims. The T-34 is to them what the B-17 is to the Americans.

I gave it a short try-out last night, couldn't do much as I had a headache. one thing that annoyed me a bit was the driver would occasionally stop, slow down, or start moving the tank without me asking him to. I guess all of the fire I was getting was freaking him out.

The driver does that if you have the gunner AI set to targeting stuff. If the gunner sees a target he tells the driver to stop and overrides the driver. To turn off the gunner AI press the 0 (number 0) button and the driver will carry on in the direction you tell him to using the 1-5 keys.

This is a really stupid question---is there a desktop icon for this somewhere? It's not in my list of programs, and I have to run the install to turn it on---completely bizarre! Has anybody found a wider view for the sight than the tight focus view for shooting?

Looks great, can't play get a black screen when I start. Decide a more thorough RTFM (well readme) and see..."ATTENTION! The game does not perform on nVidia GeForce FX video adapters." Yes I have one. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I've already learned some new things from this game.

First, the T-34 was the world's first wedge-bot. Works every time!

Played scenario about ten times---have only seen a German tank once. Bombarded and machine gunned German infantry frequently. Have been brewed about six times, at least. Damn, it is hard to have any situational awareness in a flat-turret T-34/76! I can't wait for the production sim. This consigns PANZER ELITE and PANZER COMMANDER to the dust bin, for sure.

I've passed some sort of processing event horizon. My machine has now slipped below the threshold for minimum system specs for a game.

Sniff. Roll on BoB and my upgrade.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Leitmotiv - If you go to the Starter file right click on it and drag it to your desktop you will get the option to create a shortcut on the desktop. The only wider view for the sight seems to be the non-zoomed view.

Fritzgryphon - great screens http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif The 50 cal damage is a nice new feature I had not noticed. Just found out yesterday that bailed tank crews will attack enemy infantry. Considering this is just an alpha the level of immersive detail already available is ridiculous
