Hi everyone,

Since finishing up Storm Clouds Part One and Two I've moved on to another one of my favorite aircraft that I just could not make a campaign about until I knew what I really wanted to do. So introducing Green Hearts: Kurland. This is a 14 mission, semi-historical, FW190 campaign for the veteran FW190 pilot. Its nearing a state of completeness and its been beta tested by a number of community members as well as advised on by people like Ian Boys (Kurland is his team's map so I went straight to the source).

So for now pictures and downloads are soon to come!

I'll post a few more from the second half of the campaign once I'm finished tidying up some details there.

HI Fusek http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Looks great Icefore!

I am also loving your Hi altitude, late war USAAF vs Japanese map on Ukded2 server.

I forget what its called, its the one with B29's attacking targets near a Japanese Airfield with P47's, P38's P51's,Seafires, Corsairs covering, and all the late war Japanese planes trying to get up and intercept. (N1K2's, J2M3's,Ki84's, ;ate Zeros etc)

I just love flying the late P47D on that map, its amazing.

Whats the name of the map please?

Kyushu. You can find it in the mission builder under South Japan (Kyushu) or something along those lines.

Regarding this campaign...it'll be slightly different in flavour than Storm Clouds was. The challenge this time was to be authentic to the situation which was quite desperate in the Kurland pocket. JG54 didn't have much to work with and tended to be outnumbered in a big way. In pretty much every mission you're outnumbered or evenly matched so the technique that you'll have to employ is mostly a hit and run scenario where you hit as hard as possible and then run for home. That said, the missions are balanced for fun so a veteran FW190 pilot will be able to score quite well. It'll be more challenging and if you're new to the FW190 it might hurt a bit but you'll learn fast!

cool , what i think is a weak spot IL2 off line cam,s is that its 90% bombing runs ,love to see more fighter work put in ,as 90% on line if not more is fighter work http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Excellent. I have been thinking about making a JG54 campaign myself. Might still make one covering their earlier days though aI see Poymando has one about that already. I have only flown the FW a little but I love the amount of death it can sling with it cannons. This should be good. And about being outnumbered I prefer to think of it as a "target rich" environment.

Hi Icefire,
This looks like a very good semi-historical campaign, I will look forward to playing it.
I recently finished reading "Osprey Aviation Elite 6" Jagdgeschwader 54 "Grunherz" by the very famous aviation artist John Weal.
This is a comprehensive history of JG54 and is great reading - they were certainly a very proud German outfit.
I have started playing your 'Storm Clouds' Pt1.2.and enjoying it very much. Naturally I am very interested in how you interpret Pierre Clostermann's flying and fighting in the Tempest.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifI have just finished this book and it is a great roller coaster of a ride ,Willie Heilmann Grun Hertz http://www.airwarfare.com/AWX/features/reviews/images/books/alertinthewest.jpg
As the review in the airwarfare guide says
http://www.airwarfare.com/AWX/features/reviews/book_reviews.htm
It does make you question the F/W in the F/B game.

I don't have any of those books although I was trying to get those before I started with the campaign. As it turns out, they will probably arrive in a few weeks after the campaign is finished http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm very close to being finished now actually...finished with the readme and the credits track. Doing some final personal testing and it'll be ready to go. I have consulted a number of people on the history so things are right...or fairly close to being right. Its like Storm Clouds...you aren't really flying the history but you're flying an abridged and close as possible version of the history.

The beta testers had a great time so hopefully this will stand the test of time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Soon folks...very soon!

Really looking forward to this Icefire. Your campaigns have been a big inspiration for me to start doing my own.

I normally hate flying Nartzee, but what the hell, this might be a whole new start for me!

If its any consolation...Hitler basically abandoned Army Group North in the Kurland pocket and they fought on with what they had (for the most part). Not much ideology in this case...just war.

It's not so much the politics Icefire - it's just that those barking German actors' voices get on my tits.

Why couldn't there've been just one calm one?

This definitely looks like something I will play.

The history of JG54 is one of my favourites. I try to grab up as much information, books, or whatever I can about them.

A few more screen shots prior to release. I'm just polishing off the last details and everyone can then have a go at it.

I've actually got a secret bonus campaign on the way as well...something I did just for fun while the beta testers were working away at this campaign. I'll be posting that one probably a few days after this one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Anyways...pictures!
