its been 9 months since we last heard of WATTEVILLE in the general discussions forum..

for those that dont know, watteville produced a stunning aluminum crafted cockpit...its simply beautiful, and beautifully simple. check it out here. allthough 8 pages long, you see a great deal of his craftsmanship. (this first page is the closest to the beggining i can find..posssibly a prior posting in another forum is the thread is the true start??)

His website is at http://www.simpit.net for those that don't know.

Definitely one of the finest simpits about, there is also a site where someone is building a replica spitfire simpit which is absolutely stunning in detail.

Hey thanks for posting that GAU-8 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif I too was reminded of this guy's project but for the life of me I couldn't remember his name. Thanks too for the link to the site midgie. With out doubt one of the best project threads I have ever seen posted here and an inspiration to anyone considering undertaking a similar project. I keep promising myself I am going to do something like this one day but always something comes up.

38, grand if he builds it for you...

only $3,000+ in materials if you build it yourself...not including the 300 dollar cost of the plans and licence to build one. (thats very "do"-able going the cheaper route)

thanks for watevilles link! didnt know he was selling them allready!

38 grand http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif what a rip-off. You can buy a real plane for the cost of that contraption, yet very cool looking.

I knew something was up when suddenly my site got 500 hits a day, a tribute to the number of people actually lurking on these pages.

The rocket is now in Alsace France sitting in a crate next to the future 10,000 square feet workshop/showroom. As with all construction projects especially in July-August France I have to admit that we are behind.

The only interesting thing to report this summer is an invitation by a foregn air force to submit a proposal for the procurement of a fighter simulator (sic)

As for the price; I regret I published it, it is calculated as tight as possible and is mostly labor; Shaping polishing and riveting the metal takes a huge amount of time and skilled labor. I could probably save a huge amount by farming out construction to Asia or eastern Europe... But loose part of it in shipping, taxes and duties. I prefer the idea of an "atelier" in western Europe and build an image of quality and luxury like that of Hermes or Bugatti.

I am far away from that dream, the prototype will change a lot, perhaps the game too, I don't know, but the rocket is fun, different, works very well and is emmerging as a sharp, beautiful tool to play this game to the fullest

I'll keep you posted of my progresses.

allthough i find it higher priced as a flight simulator for the computer industry...

but im not looking at it as a flightsim..

im looking at it as ART. and thats a d@mn fine peice your offering to the public, well worth the admission for a handcrafted gem you offer ushttp://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

congrats on your business and your adventures!
