I just though I would ask. They are too expensive here in Canada. They go for about 860 dallers without 15% HST. About 990 dallers with tax included. lol

Even the 6800 GT is about 640 dallers without tax. lol

If you don't mind, I'll just reply to myself.

I just went to Compusmart Canada.
With 15% tax, the 6800 Ultra is $999.35

With 15% tax, the 6800 GT is $781.98

At Magnum PC in the U.S.

6800 Ultra BFG is $559.99

6800 GT BFG is $439.00

If I paid $1.35 for ever U.S daller,

The Ultra would be 755.18. I still save $244.17.

The GT would be 592.65. I still save $189.33

I just have get a friend to buy it, with the money I send him, and have it sent as a gift.

If you have a friend in the U.S. Buy it online, have it sent to him. If he visits have him bring it or send it in the mail, not UPS.

Thats not a bad idea james.

I'm sure Eagle wouldn't mind traveling up to Newbrunswick for a visit.

Yea , I`ve seen the costs of these cards... RIDICULOUSLY expensive.

It`s ok, but I can wait till they`re cheaper.

Or even not at all. It`s a graphics card, not The Cure for Cancer!

The 6800GT easily overclocks to Ultra speeds, doesn't artifact at those speeds, doesn't require a huge power supply, takes only one slot and is alot cheaper than the Ultra. I have an eVGA 6800GT and all 16 pipes were open on it, other brands only have 12 enabled.

BSR_RuGGBuTT, all 6800GT's have 16 pipes enabled. Only the 6800 regulars have 12.

I should point out that the yields of many 6800 core chips are also poor hence overclocking can be poor, some regular 6800 amd 6800GT cards would of been ultras except the yield was in sufficient for the higher clockspeeds. So you may find a fully enabled 6800 that just doesn't reach ultra levels.

The GT also has all 16 pipelines enabled by default.

I've got a BFG 6800 GT OC which was overclocked at the core to 370Mhz instead of 350Mhz from the mfg. It has a copper HS and 2 fans. With that and the really good cooling and temps in my case I over clocked further to 400Mhz core and 1100Mhz memory (From 1000Mhz) with no problems. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif BFG cards use really good memory and cooling solutions stock.

Don't think you are searching far enough for prices in Canada. Purchased my Ultra 2400 6800 GT (Gainward) from Acctech (Vancouver) for $560.00 plus GST only.

A friend at work was looking at getting a 6800. As I was about to be in the USA on business I suggested I could pick one up in the USA for him and save him some money. Amazingly enough (weak dollar, strong pound) it turns out that it was cheaper in the UK!

Maple Tiger,
I like the little rhyme in your sig but I think you meant "here", not "hear".
I don't want to criticize, just point it out to you. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
(I'd send a private message if this forum didn't have the idiotic "private topic" system)

All this time and, you were the only good soul that spoke up.

And to stop any further humiliation towards myself, I corrected it.

The one I bought. It's overclocked a bit as well, so it's a bit more expensive than the regular ultras.

Check around.

They are a little cheaper.

$891.04 with tax compared to $999.35 at Compusmart.

However, I can still save about $120 dallers if I purchase it in the U.S.
