View Full Version : Trying to remember a movie...

It's a long shot, I know, but I'm trying to remember a movie I saw a long time ago.

It's some sort of sci-fi movie where the main characters are in the desert and are fighting some sort of semi-indestructible robots.

The only quote I remember is Kurt Russell (might not be him) saying "****ing robots" as he tries to shoot one.

Right near the end, someone gets shot with a rocket launcher and it goes right through his heart, coming out his back. At that moment the main scientist-type character gets back to earth via some sort of portal.

It's not Soldier, and I'm pretty sure it's not Stargate, either.

Any thoughts?

It's not a troll, in that a brief 2 word line "maybe" said by K.R. will not jog any of our memory to knowing what you've seen or are thinking of....Only you.

My guess is, if you did indeed do that and didn't find it (as you instantly discounted the only two films I would of considered knowing SOldier had no robots and not having seen Stargate)....Then it wouldn't be K.R..

In the end, I can't see what you're seeing in your head....SO not a troll or a slam.

As for a guess based only on the line, I'd go with captainbong1970's pick above..... Screamers.

Thought it might have been screamers for a second there, but I don't think so.

Well, if it's not Soldier or Stargate I'll go out on a limb wih Big Trouble In Little China or the Snake Pliskin films he made. Neither of which involved robots or deserts as far as I remember.

Man, K.R. has not made many Sci-Fi movies up to date -and none of the six or seven he's made fits with your version. Maybe you've mixed-up several movies in one, or Russell was not the actor in there.

Sounds like Stargate to me, the movie that TV series is based on. It's definatley not Soldier.

I'd say it's fairly certain that Kurt Russell was/is not the actor.

In fact that thing with the robots... I think it may be the 'Stargate SG-1' series, when Col. O'Neill and his mates fight the "replicators" there. You may have mixed-up the movie and the series, because Russell did that role in the movie, but in the series it was Richard Dean Anderson.

All I know about that is I watched Soldier 10 or 12 times when I was overseas, and I know its not the movie na85 is talking about. Soldier is a must-see flick however, with alot of good lines from Kurt Russel who talked very little, he mainly was a spooky-to- the- locals rejected soldier outcast on a barren planet taken in by some peiceful people, but he has to wupp a$$ when some overzealous uber soldiers arrive.
