I am having great difficulty completing this mission. No matter how fast I fly from attacking bombers, missile frigates, & back, I still lose the carrier. What is the best plane/weapons to use. How do I sink the enemy carrier (it hides behind the Fishnet of Death)? What is the best strategy for the final 1/3 of this mission? Thanks!

god that mission was a hard one, and anoying...

Basicly, you need to protect the carrier from the planes... i dont think anything from the boats hits the carrier...

you need to be quick at destroying planes...

For destroying the carrier... i dont know the best way to do it... but i spent like 20-30 minutes just flying above it and shooting missles at it, while avoiding a crap load of missles...

if you get good at dodging missles... it becomes a lot easier...

You need to have bombs for this one. It's pretty essential. Using the F-14B Bombcat with a weapons pack including free fall bombs, the mission was pretty easy for me.

I agree, that mission was annoying but as mentioned above, leave the ships to your wingmen and when it comes to the last part with the carrier keep your distance and lob bombs as they have a greater range and destructive power.

For the carrier climb upto about 10000ft (about 3500m) and then dive at it. First fire 2 Joint Strike missiles at it by locking on the by using the little blue marker in the centre of your HUD in the cockpit, line it up with the carrier and fire 4x multi AA missiles at it without locking on.

Thats what I did. You have to repeat this about 5 times and devote attention to the carrier.

This mission wasn't that hard...the best way IMO to do it is get a fast plane with RGM's so that you can engage everyone at ~40,000ft. For the first part of the mission, don't waste much time on those pesky F-14's, as they cannot damage your carrier. Instead, focus on a single flight of A6 bombers while having your wingmen engage another flight, destroy them using your RGM's (which, again, can fire at ~40,000ft) and move onto the next flight. For the second part, don't worry about the frigates, have your wingmen engage the frigates while you engage the A6 bombers, then the choppers. For the third part, engage all the destroyers which are the ones that fire SAM's at you while having your wingmen do the same and obvious dodge the missiles. Once the Destroyers are down, your job is easy. 6 JSM's kill a destroyer MK III, and 4 JSM's kill a cruiser.

Climb up point your nose down then drop the bombs then missiles and keep doing that.

Radar guided missiles. Keeps you out of harm's way. Easy win.

I used the recommended plane by the game, and I stick to the recommended equipment they provided.

To defend the US Navy fleet, you should only remain at air patrol condition in the beginning of the mission. Means, you should be at DEFENSIVE state.

At the second part of the mission, you can now go AGGRESSIVE, this would be the moment to strike hard at the enemy ships.

During the final part of the mission, to effectively hit the enemy's boss, you can try doing what I did. For example, if you have long-range missiles, lock-on/free-aim and fire. Switch to your JSM next and fire another two. Lastly, fire your cannon. Still not dead? Have another go, swing back and fire it again. That would allow you to give the max possible damage to your enemy. All armament will work, you just need to know which type of missile you're using, and apply the right strategy to engage your target.

The key is to let your opponent eat as much damage as possible at one go http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Are you kidding me? This is the best mission among the whole campaign. The enemies are really not easy to engage, but there are some ways to finish this mission which make you feel like a hero. Don't listen to other players, these guys are suck. Here is the best advise from a hero, me, actually.
First, the best plane is the F-15C with the missile pack consists with multiAA, radar guided and the jstrike. The F15-C has excellent performance on speed, use this advantage plus radar guided missile's long range, you can take out all AV8B strikes from the inner land with Jackson Battle group unharmed. Then, use MultiAA missile capability with radar-G missiles' assistance to eliminate all air threats from the sea (helos and AV8Bs). You'd better take out those frigates if you have time as well, they can damage the U.S carrier group. Finally, finish the last big rock--Artemis carrier group. You best option to do this is let your wingmen to attack enemies to draw their attention and you destroy the ships. There is a little tricky in this action, there are only two cruisers have missile anti-air capability, they are in the frontier of the whole carrier group, take care them with priority, leave the Artemis' carrier last. By the way, those F14-Ds have no threat to the U.S ships, just keep yourself safe till AV8Bs show up.

I completed the mission with a mig21 on elite difficulty.
just kill all the planes and order your wingmen to take on the boats and choppers.
make sure you equip rocket pods.
rocket range is MUCH greater then the jstrikes.
take on the big fleet using rocket pods. emty a couple salvo's of rockets while staying well out of harms way and BOOOM mission complete!

right how to beat this mission on elite http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif or any other
first ignore what they say about bombs

you want f15 c with loadout of radar guided multi target and joint strike

use the radar guided missiles to target aircraft while there still over 8 klicks from the carrier ordering your wingment to help once there within 4 klicks switch to multi tageting , fire order wingmen to attack and move to long range interception for the next wave keep about half the radar guadied missiles in reserve once dragon flight arrives you only ned to kill the attack craft coppers harriers engage with multi target, keep themscattered if thhe opertunity presents use radar missiles on the first 4 frigites, keep the choppers and such in check with wingmen once the main fleet shows itself locate the carrier and fly to about 6k meters use your remaining radar missiles on it, then pick off remainling flyers and do loop attacks on the cruisers and destroyers , this also works well for the prsedential escort mission and las angeles
