Why do my 'planes with tail gunners sometimes start doing crazy turns and banks when I "C-switch" to the tail-gunner view? This has happened in the SBD, IL-2, and A-20, but not all of the time. By the way, of all things, I actually managed to shoot down a 109 with the rear gun(ner)of an IL-2. 'wish I had filmed it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I am flying FB+AEP+PF v3.04.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Flying with unlimited ammo? Switching to limited may help some. My B-25 was doing barrel rolls while dropping unlimited bombs while I was trying to tag a Zero from the dorsal slot. I took the pilot slot over, cleared the target area, switched back to dorsal and everything was fine http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif. When you want the AI to fly to bring the gun to bear it doesn't, when you want it to stay still it won't(Murphy's Law in action).Congrats on the kill, I've got one kill marker painted on the tail of my '25 and two by the dorsal turret. It isn't quite as easy as it looks.

Even with the automation on/off I don't think the plane flies itself (unless I'm missing something).

When I don't have autopilot automation on, I can switch to the gunner position but have no control until I manually toggle the autopilot. With automation on, it simply turns the autopilot automation off when you hit c.

Either way you can control the plane with the joystick even while in the gunner position. Mind you, you could manually autopilot the pilot first (assuming you're playing single player).

I've got the hang of turning the plane (in reverse to my instinct) while controlling the gunner, during the rare time I want a manual pop from my six. I don't trust the autopilot to evade for me, every time I've let it I end up in flames.

Try using THE LEVEL STABALIZER key,It works for the bombadiers spot on B-25,You need to asign a key to it in controls menu. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
