i was flying the BL-1 and when it hits about 790knts it loops down which black outs your pilot. (im not complaining about a bug in the game oh god no) im just saying its weird, is it the BL-1's design (i wonder who figured out it could do that and lived to tell http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yeah, that's how the test pilot got killed. The plane has a serious design problem and it is accurately modelled.

Best way to keep a handle on that suicide sled is to be heavy handed with the throttle. By that I mean, if you' cooking along at a good rate, cut the engine.. she'll glide for some time without losing much speed. On-and-off like a car with no brakes but a hellacious acceleration.

U mean BI with i, not BL with L/i/smilies/16x16_robot-very-happy.gif
yea that was the reason test pilot got killed/i/smilies/16x16_robot-sad.gif

"Mach tuck", I recall?

Planes nearing supersonic speeds all went through those problem in the early stages. I recall the same tendency of the Me163 also had a lot of engineers stumped.

Yep, I did this and lived to tell about it! It was quite funny and scary at the same time. An outside neg G loop at 790 kph!

I even had witnesses who laughed so hard they almost crashed!

I'm sure the RL is was more scary than funny.../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Has anybody figured a way to get out of this yet? I'm having no luck, it goes down whatever I try. And I can't bail out because of the blackout. Dead every time! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
Cheers.

Just roll upside down. The plane will start "diving" upwards. When it slows down you will regain control.

Cut throttle immediately and as speed drops back down below that critical limit you will regain control.

hit autopilot, take control when speed drops.

It's the design. What happens is the airframe at 800kph causes the plane to push down, I recommend inverting the plane.

dang you stole my thunder !! i was going to say that

- hey everyone - listen to this guy !! - this is easily the best way to get out of it - as soon as you feel it coming (o ermmm/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif ) roll upside down /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

What is fun with BI-1 is breaking sound barrier!

"Aflak!" you might say, "with the 800km/h speed cap this is impossible!"

And I just might retort with this: At really high altitudes (just climb until its going level with full back on joystick and full throttle on engine) the air be thin. You will need to have cockpit off for this (the cockpit-off dial gives you absolute speed, the instrument and speed bar read too low at high altitudes due to the decreased air pressure). Then, dive straight down. In the lower airpressure situation, the plane passes right over the 800 km/h mark with no problems. The downward tug does indeed happen, but you can just spiral to maintain a dive.

I personally hit 1800 km/h in this fashion. > mach1!!

interesting side-note: the doppler-shift(haha! I typoed this word and missed the 'f.' the filter didn't like that much.) effect switches off at supersonic speeds in IL2FB.

I mean, you fire your guns from the flyby view, you shouldn't hear them until after you passby . . . but instead they sound in time with the muzzle flashes and at the same pitch you would hear from the "f2" view.

This was in 1.0, dunno about 1.1b.

790knts= +/- 1400 km/h and that is pretty damn fast!!!!

shall be judged: and with what
measure ye mete, it shall be
measured to you again.
