i just flew a little dogfight against some Bf109 in my La5 early. i got some serious damage, but managed to shoot all enemys down, on the landing aproach i wanted to lower my gear. but nothing happend. no text to the right of the screen saying "gear: down" or "gear: damaged". i thought a bit, and then i remembered that there was something like retracting/lowering the gear manually. until now i thought it worked only on the I16 in fb. nonetheless, i gave it a try and noticed...that the gear was slowly lowered as i pushed the manual-lowering button. this definatly gives the game more reality closeness.
sadly i cant deactivate the gear lock on 109s and then do some manouvers to throw it out. (this method is written down in the original 109 manual as emergency gearlowering)

Cool huh?

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye
shall be judged: and with what
measure ye mete, it shall be
measured to you again.

Had the same thing happen in a P47 a few nights back.
I took some damage in a fight with a 190...enough to be leaking fluid.
I figured that it was engine oil, and that my engine would give out shortly, however, it ran a sweetly as ever for another 15 minutes or so until I returned to base.
Went to drop gear and nada, not a sausage.......tried manual gear down, and it worked.
The leaking fluid must have been hydraulic fluid?
Seriously cool feature though.

It's the little features like this one which add so much to the game for me.
