I had my first air to air experience with a P51 today.
On my last leg of a dual cross country nav ex, C152, 5 miles out, overhead Naseby heading 165 at 2000 amsl QNH 1026.

"Contact at 2 oclock, same altitude, blimey he's moving"
aircraft banks away
"Cor, it's a mustang"

Identification took about a sec.
In view for about 3.

Aircraft passes out of view in front of pt wing.

Distance 400yds (250 mtres) ?, (it was about 2 inch span at arms length)

Didn't see it coming, (genuine out of the sun) Didn't.see where it went. Didn't see what colour it was, just the silhouette with 2 white stripes on the underside of the wings when it banked.

I think flying without icons with cockpit on is pretty realistic when it comes to aircraft identification.
