Hiya,
So I assume you are reading this due to your imense knowledge and love for the p-39.(hopes) I would like to try and perfect a p-39 due to the lack of them online, and also because I sat here at work all day thinking about flying it, and reading old stories about them. Would you recommend for me which p-39 to fly and why? I think I have it narrowed down to the q-10 or n series just need some expert input.

Q-10 online. no question in my mind. Sure i like the extra firepower of the N1, but i get all my online kills with the 37mm anyway. The extra speed, climb, and turn helps too.

I like the N-1 because when I pull the trigger I want something to happen. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Seriously, fly them all and see. You'll settle on one that will ring your bells.

I like the Q-10 also. The 2x .50 cals will help slow your enemy down for the 37MM kill. It climbs rather well, and will out turn anytihng but a Yak 3. Q-1 has some nice firepower, but its to far out on the wings. Same for the N-1. Its just not worth it.

N-1 for me. I need lots of ammo. Plus, a lot of servers I play on limit the planes to the early years (1942 and earlier) so it fits in nicely.

Q models are superior, you need to fly the N model as well if you want to be in early-war ('42) engagements.

I'm way from being an expert just a student of the P-39 like yourself.

I fly them all online but have had the best success with the Q-1 for reasons completely unknown to me, it may just be luck. A very, very tough learning curve for me with all variants however.

good luck........check out the 79thFS in the Squadron forum as well lots of help there.

The Q-10 is the perfect balance of BnZ with TnB, just make sure to keep your energy up and watch out for high 109s...if one does dive on me when I'm in the Cobra, I just pull a low energy barrel roll and watch him zoom on by.

I love the one shot-one kill ability of the 37mm...nothing better then watching a Yak's wing go bye-bye! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Cheers,
