06-04-2007, 04:44 AM
Hi all,

I just wanted to know if there are any information regarding the status of BoB availalbe. Are they in the timeline? What can be expected as release date? Are there any updated information like new pics, etc. avaialbe?

I think it's very quiet around BoB on this page.

Many thanks for any information. And no, I am not expecting to see a release date which is going to be correct in your answers.

Michael the WildeSau.

I have not heard anything "official" in some time.

I'm pretty sure they're still working on it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

You can probably start looking for updates here sometime next month. The expected release date is still the end of this year. As in any very complicated project delays can be expected. Just guessing like everyone else.

Over at simHQ you can read a thread about how one of the things they are doing right now is lighting for RAF airfields

You can find some unseen screens on our french forum but it looks like they all come from the pre alpha version ... nothing really new then.

A couple of sites have it listed for per-order with a release date of July 3rd http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Anyone know how pre-alpha those screenies are and how close they are to the alpha then to beta stage?

They need to do something fast. This whole series is stale. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sleepzzz.gif

yep, its darn quite, but that will change quickly when regular updates start appearing.
There will be plenty of oohs and ahhs with a few malcontents. There are even some who will use alittle constructive criticizm and get their concerns addressed.

Sneaking in the 4.09 patch could keep me distracted for a while.

I'd wager there's some intention to that effect. Once a more definitive timeline is identified for BoB, then we'll see a few updates and the Final, final patch for this sim will be released along with updates to BoB.

At least that's what my marketing savvy says I should do.

You make it sound as if this actually isn't the first PC program to simulate flight in WWII

What part of the sim do you play? Online DF? Coop? Offline SP?

What's the rush? I've been playing IL2 offline regularly since 2001 and still haven't scratched the surface of all its features.

My personal preference is to build my own missions and they're never the same twice. The aircraft FM's still give me immense pleasure, the scenery plus ground and naval action (although a little s t r a n g e at times!) never fails to interest me.

Ok, SoW will almost certainly raise the whole thing to new levels but I'm still more than happy with what the Maddox team have provided over the years so far.

The only thing I am truly hoping for in a new version is that the mountains don't change shape as I fly towards them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

One thing after playing lock-on and Falcon RV I really miss is the 6 DOF support for track IR, it would be enough for me only to have the FOV like in Lock-on. This is the single feature I'm waiting for Bob or (better) for a patch.
One other thing is the ability to calibrate joystick axis other than the 1st device without editing the ini files by hand.
