Is there a patch to have the actual medals appear that I am getting when looking at the records? That would be cool!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The medals show up. I don't remember exactly where they show up, but click around on hte pilot record page to see what you have earned. I assume you are talking about single player campaign mode.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

uh....that's really odd

You mean that you don't get an image of the medal, you just get some text message? Are you sure about that? I've made custom medals and awards, trust me, there are pictures

Here is a stock US award, the Medal of Honor:

that one shipped with the sim

Here is a custom award I've made for a campaign I'm making:

What message are you getting in text?

Similarly, how come since I have PE-2, all of my allied victories have Russian stars instead of American stars and bars? Or whay do I only seem to fly Russian Hurricanes when in ETO? THanks!

The game defaults to russian markings in ETO, you'll have to go into the arming (?) section and change country to UK. The victory markings could not be changed from the original FB to keep compatibility.

RichardFF, if you've accidentally deleted medal .tga files, there are some very nice custom ones that come with some of the user campaigns, ie, authentic (swastika-bearing) german crosses.

It's worth noting that the Soviets and the Americans used a different idea for victory markings

The Soviets would use stars in many cases, similar to their own national markings

The Americancs did not follow this practice. they often painted either a small symbol representing their defeated foe's nationality, such as a swastika, or else the flag of their defeated foe, such as a hinomaru (one type of Japanese flag). They would not ever have painted their own national symbol on their aircraft to represent a victory- unless- they shot down an airplane in US markings and got credit for the victory, which would be quite a rare thing, since shooting down a friendly aircraft is not normally considered a good thing to do

However, on at least one occasion this did happen, and the fighter pilot did get credit for the victory and did paint a US national symbol- a white star with red center on a blue circular field- on his aircraft. The US plane he shot down, on purpose, was a C-47 that was mistakenly trying to land at a Japanese-held airfield. There were nurses and other medical personnel on board. The fighter pilot could not raise the C-47 on the radio, and after trying warning shots to deter the C-47's pilot from landing there, shot the engines of the C-47, which ditched in the ocean. Later that day, all aboard the C-47 were rescued by US Forces

That guy had a little US symbol, but it was for an actual US aircraft. It would be very incorrect to have a US fighter pilot to have 'stars and bars' decorating his plane to serve as victory markings

Yep, but I found them. They only appear under pilot profile. How do I change my picture? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

That is exactly how I came to ask the question and have kept those in mind if I ever play Sturmovik.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Picture change is done by pasting an appropriately sized and cropped picture (check the original in folder) of you into the DGen folder of the game. It should be called Photo.bmp also. PS, make sure first, I'm not at home to double check.

Think my medals came out of the Weiss Schwalbe campaign. If you would like more historical and accurate plane markings, there's a program called Il-2 Mat Manager.
