shame the U.S droped the commanche program. that bird would have been a beast. the apachie is still a good Attack choper but the comanchee would have been much better and probly saved lives.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. I can't speak for EECH2, but the original had one of the best dynamic campaign engines of it's time, fully integrated with co-op play, I had heaps of fun with that sim.

sorry dude didn't mean to appear as a prude... but I just find myself unable to get excited about games that "simulate" classified or cancelled aircraft like the F-117, F-22 or in this case the Comanche... I just don't think the aircraft systems or flight model could be accurate at all so I don't see the point.

Just my opinion.

I have, at home, a list I found on the Internet of the reasons the Comanche was cancelled.

- Regularly exceeded Army limit of one crash per hour of flight

- On-board pastry oven kept burning everything

- Concept of physically transporting combatants to a battlezone outmoded by new 'Bomb everything into oblivion from a safe distance' strategy.

- Hit Pentagon spending limit for things which didn't work

There were about ten other reasons too...

NP...I agree with the classified aspect, but I think just sometimes its good to let your hair down and just blow S**T up. This is what EECH was (and still is IMO) good at, it wasn't the most immersive sim in terms of fidelity but the flight model was pretty swish, it modelled downdrafts, auto rotation and all; the AI was great and (I hate to harp on) the campaign generator was the best around.

It will be interesting to see what EECH2 has to offer.

God, I love helo-sims. As much as I like IL2 and LOMAC+FlamingCliffs and stuff, but my heart is still with Janes Longbow2 and anything higher than treetop-level still frightens me.

I also never found a game with similar multiplayer-experience. Having a human pilot and gunner is a real immersion-factor. Hope we'll see manable gunner-stations in normal MP-Dogfights for BoB!

I'm also concerned about the Comanche being simulated. I'd rather prefer the good ole Apache, but well... We'll see how good it is against EagleDynamics BlackShark-Addon, which has not been released, yet. It will be difficult for EE2 to beat that, simulation-wise, at least.

True... for now...... Until we get Blackshark.

Seriously, Blackshark will kick EECH2's arcadish butt when it comes down to systems, weapons and physics simulation.

Here is a peek at it made by ingame footage (alpha build) and not CGI like the EECH2 movie.

Wich one do you mean?
Gunship?
EECH?
Blackshark?
Lerche?

I enjoy flying the Vipers and Blacksharks in ArmA right now; it has a great FM for the kind of game it wants to be and its a lot of fun
(and I bet EECH2 wont have loads of infantry running around).

The problem I have with this video is first its intro-movie-looks and second the flyable helos that will be in the final game...
In my opinion Gunship! had the best selection of flyables yet (with the exeption of modelling the Havoc instead of the more apropriate Ka-50); the Comanche or Ka-52 are the attack helicopters with the lowest operational record ever http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif .

They look good, especially "Black Shark" (can't be bad coming from the LOMAC stable) but I'm surprised to see no mention of "Whirlwind of Vietnam" (title sucks a bit I admit) particularly as it comes from the same company that brought us "IL2".

According to the developer the cockpit is interactive and you can switch positions around the aircraft, including the door gunners! The prospect of putting a D model into a hot LZ, carrying out dust-offs and carrying out gun-runs in the B/C Hogs is something I'm looking forward too.

Put on some Wagner in the background and shout "Charlie don't surf!"

The clip looks like just another promo movie I`ve been seeing for like 5 years now.

Showing actual clip from playing the game does much more to show. They also need to develop a better dynamic campaign system and a lot easier interface.

They also need to think about the dudes who do not take spending a fotune on TiR and implement identical viewing system just like in IL2.

WoV seems to be a good upcoming game too since it uses IL2 engine. It is said also that there will be special rescue missions.Maybe even some Rambo type missions heheheh

This is from their FAQ...

Is there multiplayer mode?

I will have to disappoint you. Our game is devoted to the War in Vietnam. Helicopters of that time were not intended for extended battles. The reason is simple: there was nobody to fight in the air. Multi-role and transport helicopters form the core of a helicopter squadron of that time. Such a multi-player game is a sophisticated and maybe beautiful sight, but it absolutely lacks dynamics.

You will not be able to build new missions, either. It has a set of missions to make it completely historically accurate. No modification whatsoever.
