If its well implemented well it could be brilliant. CFS3 really needed the FS9 engine.

I reckon It would feel like an uber version of European Air War

I wonder if this is Gennadich's Knights of the Sky? Gennadich just released a free Dr.I for FSX a couple days ago.

But surely Gennadich would have announced it first?

Surely! I am thoroughly confuzzled by this surprise.

Interesting...I don't know anything about Abacus, but probably has nothing to do with Gennadich. You should be able to port the Gennadich model into the Abacus game and enable the guns.

I just read this

http://www.qvsoftware.com.au/products/products.asp?pid=399&rc=3&cat=PC

notice how they don't talk about the fighting part?

Looks like its going to be recce or pick up and delivery fly place to place while things go on around you kinds of missions.

Not to sure how to react to this.

On the one hand, FSX is one of the few sims to reach IL-2's graphics, and some of the extra software (such as plug in to google earth and such) is very, very good.

On the otherhand, I saw a hell of a lot of posts enthusing over the Dr.I model, how faithfully it reproduced the rotary engine's monster torque and what a handfull it was to fly.

Now, for the first, the FSX DR.I model has a well regulated throttle, and I'm not sure the real one did (it was no thrittle, just an on/off ignition cut out), and secondly, compared to what we expperience in IL-2, the little fokker could just as well have been a Storch - it was very easy to fly!

That, coupled with FSX's very limited collision and damage modelling leaves me thinking it could be a very pretty easy mode game.

Plus, and this is the killer for me, FSX has an open architecture which means we'll be seeing Dr.I's with 25 lb Merlin engines in no time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Well I really hope its not KoTs,as that would be a colossal waste. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

Hmmm. Well, even if it is non-combat, I'll get it to fly that R class zeppelin. Yum.

Well hold FSX has a FM lock now after acceleration..
I'm very curious or will it be an addon like the Combat A10 they did.. which i had to replace the Model..

Take FSX close an area to a small map like BOB, give it a visual damages and weapons, lock track ir in the pit, weather + air mass etc.. and clouds level to real weather and you will have a serious Sim even better than SOW IMO.

Lots of work.. There is a good reason why Maddox have small maps..

Right you are, G.

So, no bullets, damage models and AI combat flight manoeuvres is FSX?

Remains to be seen at this point, BBB. They do use WWI COMBAT in the title. Unless they are out to completely deceive customers there had better be some boom.

KotS is still Gennadich's baby according to this. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Ugh.. Abacus.. I'm not real impressed with their work. I purchased the Flight Deck addon for FS2004/FSX and it's not very high quality stuff. The aircraft models are poor, both on the interior and exterior.

So I am 1) Glad that this is obviously not KOTS, and 2) not going to bother to buy this little add on.

Thankfully its not Gennedich. KOTS on the FSX engine would have killed the game for me.

The maps plug in to FSX is called "tile proxy" and can be found here:

Looks cool, but i'll wait for KOTS which will somehow come out before BOB SOW so now I will go back into hibronation with the rest of us and remain in 1946-cheers (yawn)-astrogoth

If they do a good job on the "height climber" zep, I'll buy it. Good zep sims are rare.
