I'm wanting to play with a custom skin for a B-25, but the 'Void.bmp' file doesn't really indicate the margins of each panel. I can't seem to find what passes for a 'default skin' in my files. What gives? When I try to fill in a color for wings, etc it just bleeds into the entire bitmap as there is no definition on the void file. Where can I find either a default skin, or a custom one published somewhere that I can work off of?

If you want to get yourself into skinning, ask around at www.simmerspaintshop.com (http://www.simmerspaintshop.com)

If you want to download skins that are allready made by other people, look at: http://www.flying-legends.net/ or www.1java.org (http://www.1java.org) there are lots of other sites to offer skins but these ones come to my mind right now. Some people make templates out of voids. These are prepared images with all diffrent parts of the aircraft allready seperated. If you feel confident enough, you can make your own template.

Adobe photoshop is most commonly used to make skins. But you can also use paintshop pro, gimp or any other program that handles layered templates. www.simmerspaintshop.com (http://www.simmerspaintshop.com) has a forum with some really nice and helpfull people on it.

Yup...what Platypus said.

The default skins are hard-coded into the sim...there's nothing to edit.

You can also head over to the Paint Scheme Forum for some good advice. I highly recommend GIMP 2. It's almost as powerful as PSP and it's free.

Here's a link to some PBJ skins over at the Paint Scheme Forum...great skins.
