So far I think the patch has done a terrific job righting many of the flaws with our beloved wurger -- cockpit notwithstanding but with improved elevators it's not as much of an issue -- as well as bringing other birds to reality, Hurris and La's come to mind.

I have noticed on thing however, the max level speed for the A8 and A9 have been rightly toned down but at sea level I have a very hard time reaching what's posted in the object viewer where it states you should be able to do about 575 KPH at sea level.

I cannot reach anywhere near this and sustain it in level flight. I usually can do only in the 490-520 KPH range which is way too slow. Let me caveat this by saying I may be doing something wrong, even though I've experimented with pitch settings a great deal as well as using auto pitch.

The only way I can approach 575 KPH at sea level is to go into a slightly unloaded descent (roughly -.5G) but shouldn't I be able to reach 575 KPH in level flight? Are others experiencing the same? If not how to you reach max level speed?

If so please respond with your obersvations so this post may be of some use to Oleg and his team.

Beyond this I find the improvements in the patch quite good for the most part.

You using auto radiator and auto prop pitch? If so then that explains it. Switch the radiator to full close and then switch to constant speed prop at 100%. The Fw 190A9 reaches its listed top speed at sea level within 1 or 2 km/h.

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.

Hmm. I just tried QMB over smolenks at 200' with the A8.

Max speed over level terrain was 580 kph (with wep on the whole time, overheat did NOT set in for the duration of the test--maybe 75 seconds?)

What did I do wrong? By the way, I did not change any radiator pitch or mixture or any settings on the plane. Flew it as it started.

Sorry, but I get 580 km/h in the A9 on auto pitch.

A-9 speed at o meter seems correct now, it was too fast in the original game!

Cheers,

Late 190s are bullet trains. I've got no complaints.

As Maj Death said above, close the radiators.
