This is with a 9600XT and 5.2 cats.

In the panel control go to the color tab and create a profile for desktop.
Mine is as follows:

Gamma ---->0.58
brightness---->4
Contrast ---->200

Save the profile and load it when going to play FB. If the profile goes to default when FB is loading, alt-tab and you will got it in the game. My mnitor is 100 contrast and 24 brigthness.

May be a little dark, but the sense of reality when look to the ground, the sky, the sun is incredible. Looking through the windshield to the clouds and other planes is almost like real images!
It's my first attempt anyway. Would like to know your opinion, or others profiles you use.

Hey Jazz!

Could you post screenshots? I like the idea, but I'd rather see some screenies before I put my monitor at risk, which I don´t think will happen, but I want to be safe.

Did I get it right, you've simply created a color profile that's REALLY REALLY dark (low gamma and brightness, high contrast)?

Ummm, you do realize that the screens will look different on your system right? Unless your settings are the same, the output will be different.

Yes, it's a color profile so you can't see how it looks like save you load the profile yourself.
I don't think a monitor can get damaged by using a color profile, but I want be sure for that.

Yes playing with the gamma, brightness, and high Contrast on the ATI cards will bring FB/AEP/PF to life. I did that with both my 9500 Pro and 9800 Pro cards. But I found setting the Digital Vibrance on my Gforce 3 and Nvidia 6800Pro cards worked better. I hope ATI has a Digital Vibrance setting in their future cards.

Sorry but I don't seem to get it. What happens when you do this? Could someone explain this to me? I have an FX5700.

But would'nt the screen shots only show up to what "your" monitor is set to,i e you can look at a photo that is underexposed on the screen but adjust the monitor to correct it.

Again, YES. GreyBeast, unless your systems visual settings are calibrated the EXACT SAME WAY, they will appear different on your system. In fact, it'll look like PF already looks like on your system. These are not photos or some other form of system independent media. We are talking about adjusting the 2 layers of output control. These would be your vid card settings and your monitor settings.

To help explain with an example. You put a tape in yor VCR (or dvd in your dvd drive). On the tv, you see the picture. On the TV, play with the color, tint, sharpness etc and it will LOOK different on your TV. Did you modify the tape? No. You just modified how it is displayed which is what Jazz is talking about.

This is quite an interesting change. A nice improvement. I reckon it might be better with tweaking, though.

To all those who haven't tried it yet, just give it a go! You won't break anything, honest, and it's very quick and easy.

You can test your own settings with a screenshot of FB. May be you require less contrast for example. My profile is a little radical with contrast 200 but I like very much the result. The ground really seems very much detailed and the Pacific sky and sea are wonderful blue...

Yep I tried this and reckon there could be something in it....ground detail seems more defined...anyone else try it?Good idea.

Ground detail is indeed more defined. I rolled the contrast back to 160 (ATI 9800) and still very pleased with the view.

Thanks for posting this. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also tried it with my 9800pro. I LIKE!, I LIKE! The image is alittle dark at first, butat least in my case, after the monitor warms up a bit, the image lightens up just enough to make it perfect! Colors are richer(sky, and water are a deeper blue), the ground is more detailed, and perhaps what was more strikeing for me, was the detail which was brought out in the AC. You could really now see the rivets, and the individual panels which comprise the AC. Great tip! Everyone should at least try. I'm gonna see how these settings work for other games as well. SHIII should hit the shelves tomorrow!

Glad you like it guyshttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. If you discover other settings that works better for you post it please. For me it's like FB with very very nice graphics at the expense of the little effort what is loading a profile.

I tried it but the sun was blinding! the light from the sun was very powerful the whole screen turned a bright yellowish/white. other than that everything looked very nice. i just need to tweak it some i guess. I like to have my settings adjusted so its easier to spot targets, i.e. not have it too dark.

I basically put contrast to 155 brightness to 20 and gamma to 0.64 or so and that worked absolutely perfectly. Makes things little less dark. And ^ the sun is meant to be bright, this is due to the contrast settings, but technically speaking this is much more realistic and makes for a much cooler sun effect. I saw the sun for the first time with the new settings and I was awed at how amazingly blinding it was, just like the sun really is if you look into it! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

I've been playing with the settings, colorwise, on these ATI cards for quite some time now, and I've said it before: the default colors on video cards is horrid! If you can get the colors anywhere near being less green, you will see an improvement.

Now, I like these settings, and thank you for giving me a new profile to glare at once in awhile. I especially like the appearance of the wooden carrier decks and color of the ground where the brown dirt shows up. Very nice, and thank you http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Nice! One little problem I'm having is it reverts back to default when I start the game.
Once ingame I can hit [ALT]+[Tab] and it kicks it back in .... any idea why?

That is weird! I have PF as a standalone. When I start that application, the color dosen't revert. However, when I play FB+AEP, I need to Alt+Tab, to keep the color profile. Very strange.

You must have visited the Guru3d forums as well. This was one posters answer to Nvidia's Digital Vibrance for ATI cards. His actual settings were as follows:

gamma = 0.75
brightness = 4
contrast = 144

Be sure do this for 3d not just desktop. If it looks too odd for your desktop you can just do the 3d and save it.
I have tried this and being a previous Nvida owner (4600) I must say it looks pretty good with my 9800Pro.

Be sure to save it for 3D not just your desktop. See screenshot:

I tried this and colors are just awfull! I use other tools to adjust color settings, specific for NEC/Mitsubishi monitors.

These are jpegs so quality is lower. Also my contrast is not quite as high as original poster.

Uhmm, what's the sun supposed to do when you look at it? Has it been so long you've forgottenhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif? Too much IL2 for you... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
