1. The rufes now land with engines running, no more el glido splasho.

2. Arado takeoff with jato is interesting as pods fall away without your input, i hit the dudes in front of me as i was too close!
http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif
3. The A-20c behavior as I see it is a=ATTACK. Under 5000 feet it will go into extended column/line astern and drop bombs and then return to strafe targets of opportunity, this is WITHOUT GATK LINKED to a specific object.
http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
With GATK Linked it annihilates and then hunts.

If over 6000 feet it semi extends and makes very shallow dive, drops bombs and then if fighters near goes for them like a pe2 would.

If set to merely bomb a city, it does just fine, as long as there are no clearly identifieble targets. hmm. I found using the b-25j bomb charts wiorked fine, 6000 feet 200mph IAS 210TAS.

Hi,

Yes I was dabbling with the Arados Rauchergeraet on take off. If you pass 80% to engage the rockets, you can then turn off the engines and still achieve a good take-off. I can not imgine a single cir***stance where you would want to do this, but it is possible http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif (maybe if you flame out on take off, the rockets get you to safe bail out altitude?)

As far as I can tell they engage when you pass 80%, and as you say, they fall away automatically when they are expended.

The real things had pressure switches to detect if both rockets were generating thrust, and one would cut out if the other stopped working or something. They both stay on if you switch one engine off though.

What, I cant say 'cir***stance'? Hmmm...

I thought if you took off on 78% throttle in the 234 you might be able to keep the rockets for emergencies. But you loose themafter a certain altitude or time, I cant tell which triggers there ejection.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

WTF is the deal with "attack" aircraft using line astern, anyway? They should virtually always be line ABREAST instead for low alt attack.

Its IL-2 behavior. The aircraft in game use the IL-2 style of "wheel of death" attack which was done like this as IL-2s would wheel around the target and attack in line astern from the rear of the target.

This is particularly good when the AI is working on tanks as this is the only way to take them out with large cannons. Its not always good for other situations...again...its a limitation of a 7 year old engine.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

This is what happens when censorship (for whatever well-meaning reason), goes too far. Sometimes you simply have to allow some things through or the world itself would grind to a halt.

Just use manual Moderater watching rather than automated censorship.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I realize that it's old il-2 behavior, but none the less it is silly. They had to write new AI to land on CVs, they should have made AI for light/medium bombers to deal with proper minimum alt attacks. It;s telling that the example ntrk of parafrag attack is line astern B-25s attacking a column of japanese armor. It would be something to even FIND that much japanese armor, much less attack it with parafrags which were used to attack airfields, not armor.

Line astern is just plain bad, in so many ways, and AWFUL for parafrags since the trailing planes have to climb to avoid the parachutes from the leaders. The whole idea was to blanket a wide swath with the bomblets, if you wanted to hit the small line over and over, regular bombs would do better.

On top of that, they don't carry enough parafrags. The minumum likely loadout would be 72 for a B-25, others have posted numbers over 200, but I think that is too high.

Ta183 is porked. Can see why this was a russkie only sim. The Mig9 would not have flown because the Russian engine development had stalled '44-'45. It used captured not 'improved' BMW engines to fly. As for special materials, most, even aluminum were supplied by US/UK.

The Ta183 was designed by Dip. Ing.Multhopp, not
Kurt Tank, which is why he built the 'flying brick' or 'Pulque dos'. Moved the wing to shoulder and towards the tail = gauco splato.

Given the size of her wing and power of the engine flight characterisics should be better.
As for tail flutter, the Germans knew of the problem and the v1 had interchangeable tails i.e. a lowered horizontal surface in the second version, if things should prove adverse in real testing. So instead of 'strengthening' etc just give us tail 2.

Have you tried the Ta-183 with the 4.071m beta?

It's now very different aircraft.

I have waited in great anticipacion for the Ta183 as a flyable jet in the sim, but it behaves like a heavybomber with a drunk pilot... at least in v4.07m from the dvd. What is changed in 4.071m patch, and where do I get it ?

I have an RC ductedfan model of the Ta183, and it flies really beautiful http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I know the high AOA stalls is a nasty problem, but that is solved with wingfences to prevent sideslip.

The Ta-183 is much faster and generally somewaht more pleasant to fly.
