View Full Version : What flyable planes would you like to see in the future development of BoB:SoW?

Ok, I know it's early but go with me!

At the moment people still request flyable this or that for IL2, which is now (at least from Oleg) pretty much at the end of it's development.

Maybe in the future another team may take on the game engine and create further improvements for IL2, but for now lets close that door.

So, the purpose of this thread, as BoB is still to be released, is to request planes that you would like to see in the Sim in the future.

Why?

Well what's the point of letting the developers know what the general feeling of planes that the community would like to see, after they have created further updates, that people will no-doubt complain doesn't contain something they wanted!

So, keeping this thread concise, I'm requesting that contributers ask for only three flyable planes they would like to be developed for future releases.

That's three only!

No need to justify your choice, and no need for other posters to say "You'll never get it!"

So, here are mine, remember they are for updates (like AEP) so not all relevant to 1940 period :

B-24 (Useful for RAF Coastal Command 120 Squadron)

P-47 (I live in hope that 1C sort out legal issues for future development....please http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

Blackburn Skua (First plane to sink a ship at the start of the war).

There you go, now let's hear yours.

Cheers, MP.

Hmm. I think that the number of planes we have in IL2 possibly became a bit of a headache for Oleg and his guys. Sure, it's good to have a shot of the less well known aircraft every now and then, but I'm equally sure most of us stick with the more famous aircraft most of the time. It must pi55 Oleg off to spend time putting an aircraft in the game only to find that hardly anyone uses it.

In answer to the question, the aircraft I would like to see introduced in an expansion would be the Focke Wulf series. Pick any three you like http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

2. Supermarine Walrus or other appropriate English float plane to rescue us if we have to ditch in the chanel

3. De Havilland DH82 Tiger Moth for training and aerobatics.

I wouldn't say no to a twin engined, heavily armed RAF fighter with excellent all round visibility either. Does such a thing exist? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Basically this thread gives us guys/gals a chance to show what planes will interest us in future development.

We've all sat there and moaned about planes that have been added to IL2, but at least you have a chance here to say what planes you'd like to see modeled.

What's the point, as has happened in IL2 of asking for planes at the end of it's development, when the next version (BoB), is still being made, and there is at least a chance to express what planes you'd appreciate being considered!

Cheers, MP.

PS. One day, I hope, the P-47N will take to the skies....one day... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Considering taht ONE plane in SoW require about 6 month of work, I believe that we get all palnes we have now in IL2 sometimes about 2030 in SoW: Complete edition..

Apparently it takes a good six months minus research to model a plane for the BoB engine.

I see a bunch of people saying "I wanna..."
but not many saying "I can do this, even if nobody else cares..."

While I'm here, a trainer for each side would be good.

Even though I'm more of a fighter guy, I would love to see one of the large bombers, such as the B-17 or B-24, modeled for BoB.

For my first choice I'm going to go with a fighter that is "near" era correct, and I believe is not included...

The P40

then the PBY

and The Heinkel He 51 (don't know why...Spain maybe?)

p.s. I would love to see a Spanish Civil War add-on at some point...(many cool airplanes...I love the early stuff)

Who cares what the planes look like!? Import them as they are from IL2?!
You never see them, except as pixels on you screen, except for the brief moments when you shoot one down (and when you get shot down you don't see them at all!http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I'd rather have MFS kinda clouds and scenery.
Now that would be something!

P-51 with 59lbs of boost and fries

I never want to see these planes, or any other for that matter. The fewer the better.

All I hope is that the major roles are well covered, and new roles that haven't been in sims before (gliders, etc). Don't care which planes or how many, though it'd be nice if they weren't the same planes that have been in every sim since the 80s.

For the love of god, not the same P-51, B-17, Spitfire, FW **** again.

The Hs 123 was a remarkable plane. It was tested in War conditions during the Spanish Civil War, and was moderately succesfull. It was very accurate and effective in the (very) close ground support role. At the end of the Spanish Civil War the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka was operational already, and was more promissing. It was taken out of production and first-line service in the fall of 1938. 1 Geschwader (Lehrgeschwader) was still operational at the outbreak of the War in 1939, and the aircraft were used once more. Their usefullness continued until 1944, in the campaigns against Poland, North-West Europe, the Balakn, and Russia. It became so popular that there were demands to reinstate production, even in 1942.
At the end of it's long life there were just too many damaged and destroyed aircraft, and the last few aircraft were taken out of service in 1944.

I would like to see only the most important planes because it will take much more time to model planes in SOW according to Oleg. So we have no time for special expirimental planes. But maybe it would go faster if some hobby modeler would create some planes like in il2. Oleg would just have to programm the flight and damage model.
Also it will certainly go quicker if you only have to change some bulges to create a new version. Only complet new planes will take 6 month imo.

Most important plane for me is the FW 190 A because it's the second main fighter for Germany and as you know they had only two.

Given that planesets in SoW will be more focused than IL2, I'd like to break my choices (not including the obvious ones like the Bf-109 or Fw-190 or planes in the current IL2 planeset) for flyables down into possible SoW expansions:

Spanish Civil War
Cr-32
Hs-123 (this is a great choice, since it was used in various roles throughout WWII)
He-111E (early type nose)
Ju-52 (bomber!) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Mediterranean:
Sm-79
G-55

ETO
B-26
Typhoon
P-38F

Night bombing campaign
Lancaster
Wellington
BF-110G (with working a2a radar)
Ju-88G (with working a2a radar)
Hs-219 (with working a2a radar)

Heavy bombing campaign
B-17F/G
B-24D/J

I listed the heavy bombers as a separate expansion due to the larger amount of time and effort it would take to incorporate them into the SoW engine. Heck, do the B-17 and B-24 separately if need be; I think there could possibly be enough interest to make such an expansion one of the most popular for the series.

I know this is a little OT, but along the lines of the last post...

I would love to see a PTO map...

1) (a big) map of the Solomon Islands and Rabaul (include some of Papua New Guinea)

Airplanes? (the usual suspects)

Also a +1 to a Spanish Civil War map

p.s. Northern Africa thru Italy campaign...
