What are you guys flying? The default campaigns seem to leave a lot to desire so I wonder if there is better user made ones similar in approach?

Nothing that I know of available yet. The dynamic campaigns are very poorly done and there are almost no single/coop missions in PF. The longer I have the game the more this disappoints me.

RocketDog.

Thanks but I can´t understand the installatin instructions?

I have copied them to my PF folders the 3.02m campaign?

Then I am supposed to set paths for the ilgdcg302.exe and IL 2 FB files but what am I supposed to do and how? Give it a path to itself or what?

Campaigns and single missions/coops/DF maps certainly leave something to be desired but fortunately they arn't all that hard to make yourself (except campaigns, that is a real pain). There are plenty of places you can get user made COOPs and single missions, in fact I'll even make you a custom one if you want. I finished my final exams last week so I've got nothing to do but play games and build missions for the next month http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif.

You would do that for me I am blushing http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif Otherwise if I just manage to install this one I think I will be busy for a while. Though I would like campaigns though.

But if I just get this installed. the readme is all mysterious I don´t understand it.

Here is what it says:

Installation and Settings Instructions

Unzip to any folder on the same hard-drive as your IL-2 Sturmovik game with create folder options on. For simplicity sake, you might want to name the folder "IL2DCG".

When you run the program for the first time, you may be required to set some paths to your IL-2 "Sturmovik" or IL-2 "Forgotten Battle" folder and to IL2DCG itself and optionally to a campaign folder.

The first path to set is to the IL2DCG.EXE program. Select it from the folder you unzipped the package to. The second is to the IL2.EXE program (located in the game's "IL2 Sturmovik" or "IL2 Forgotten Battles" folder) or the IL2Server.exe (if you are using the dedicated server). This one must always be set or DCG will give you an "Invalid File Name" error. If you receive this error, exit and restart DCG and select the correct path to your game folder.

If you want to fly a specific DCG campaign, you can click on the "folder" icon. Set the path to one of these folders by selecting the squadrons.dcg file in that folder. Depending on your selection and the mode you chose, DCG will select the appropriate folder to write the missions to. If no path is asked for, DCG has selected the "Grand Campaign" for you. You may also change campaigns by selecting (in the DCG menu under "Files") "Select DCG Campaign Folder" or by creating a new campaign (under the DCG "Run" menu or by clicking on the "world" icon). If you own the Aces Expansion Pack, check the option to use planes available in that add-on (required for Western front campaigns).

Note: if for any reason, these paths need to be revised, you reselect them through the "File" Menu.

Okay I tried to goof around. Got the program started and directed it to the PF new.exe file and started a 1942 US Navy fighter campaign. Before I click the start button for it I hit the generate campaign button in the campain editor and it shows a mission. Start the campaign it shows the same but then when I start I have no carrier or anything just sitting dead in the water?

That is a bug, supposedly fixed in V 3.01

But I am using 3.02 PF and 3.02 campaign editor? But I should maybe try another campaign?

Or is there a work around?

I am not sure I got it all right though. It´s the PF new exe you should direct it to right? If I get it showing when starting the campaign it should work?

Its a bug in 3.01 means: 3.01 is the version of DCG not PF. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

On lowengins homepage you can download allready version 3.03 of DCG with some bug's fixed. There is also some info how to use the programm.

Keep trying with Lowegrin's DCG, oeqvist. It is way better than the original DGEN providied with PF. True, a bit tricky to set up. The best way to use it is on "Full replacement mode".

Thanks need all tips I can get to get it running. btw Okinawa is not listed what is the previvalent to that campaign? Tried "Pacific 44" but that didn´t seem like it?

Full replacement mode does that mean I can skip the external generator all together?

Full replacement: your orginal dgen will be backed up and lowengrins dcg will be copied too FB/PF folder. It replaces dgen. You can only fly campaigns which are dynamic and generated for dcg not the orginal campains. So, first download the 3.03 version of dcg. Then start a new campaign with the dcg programm (Eg. USN-Midway). Then just click the auto generation mod and the dgen replace mod. now you can close DCG and start FB. In the campaign selection there should be a USN dynamical campaign for dcg.

I prefer to use auto generation mod (without full replace mod). So you can allways make changes on your campaign.

Here is some info abaut all mods and how to use them:

I thought you could still make changes in full replacement mode.

At least I think that's what I've been doing. Was it all a fantastic dream ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

The great thing about DCG is that when it's set up, and generating your campaigns automatically, you can always go in and cutomise everything. From the number of planes and ground objects on the map, to the skin of your squadron, to the default cruise altitude and speed.

Aaaaaah what a complete waste of time.

I don´t get it. I started a 1942 midway campaign but all this campaign builder send me to is reconnaisance flight using max length 150 km and one escort mission. I have yet to see any enemy. I don´t know if it´s a bug because I hear all kind of action over radio but none ever happen to me. If I hit shift f2 I can see some enemy carriers and such and enemy planes so they ought to be there???

Should I forget about campaigns only fly single missions?

Can these campaigns be flown in PF stand alone ?
