View Full Version : Help!! German Plane issues!!!

Hello all.

I've had FB for a while now, and have never been able to fly any of the 109's, 190's, Ju87-88's. The problem is on take-off, i push the throttle to about 20% and the engine overheats, then is "inoperable ." I know that this was a great fighter of the war and although take-off was somewhat difficult, this was definately NOT the case on take-off. I've uninstalled and reinstalled many many many many times and have looked at airwarfare.com for correct patching sequence. As i said earlier i've had the game for a while now so it's actually been on 2 different computers also. Games are, IL-2 Gold pack, Pacific Fighters, and 1946. I was hoping 1946 would fix this but realize this is an isolated issue. ANY advise or help would be much obliged. HALF THE FUN OF THE GAME IS MISSING FOR ME SIMPLY BECAUSE I CANT FLY ANY OF THE GERMAN PLANES less the bi-planes and jets .

Overheats and breaks down at 20%?

Awkward. Don't really have no sugggestions for you.

From what it sounds like, you're starting your plane in a volcano. No airplane should overheat at 20% power. Lock your tailwheel, add a bit of rudder trim for torque if the plane allows, and increase throttle to about 40% - 50%. Once you reach a good speed, say 50 kph, put on the rest of the power and steer the plane straight down the runway. Once you reach 120 kph slowly start to roll back. You should be airborne by 190kph. Once you get a positive ascent rate, raise your gear. After attaining a good height and decent speed, if you've used them, raise your flaps.

Taking off should be the easy part. You're not telling us the whole story.

Sounds like you have 100% Prop Pitch turned on/selected-the German birds don't need anything adjusted in that department, they should have an automatic setting by default.

If you are selecting Shift+0 and disabling the auto PP control, stop doing it and learn to fly the LW birds 'stock' first.

You'll get into the air faster.

At first I thought that he was using the one stupid E model 109, that is the high alt one, but he says all 109 and 190 etc!

Can't wait to find out wtf this one is!

Yeah, at first I was thinking he had the MW50 on, but this sounds like he's probably tried a/c without MW50.

Or has he?

true, but that would only cause proplems with the 109s . not the Fw190, Ju87/88 ?!?!?!?!?!

yes guys i do have prop pitch set for auto, and i know how to take off, the problem is i dont even get up to speed before overheating. have read all the little tid bits about the planes on take off, have tried everything but everybody else around me can take off just fine. I do what they say for take -off and still overheat so i dont think i'm flying it improperly, biggest feeling is patch order, but all of the forums say the same patching order, i patch exactly how they say and still no fly.

have tried all of that. the only thing that i havent tried is the MW50, is this like wep?? and how do you engage it??

Can u send one Tinman? Start the mission, immediately start recording track (you have to assign a key, it's something like "Quick recording"), save a track and post it somewhere. Sounds really really weird.

WELL I'LL BE DOG GONED.

I did not know that the 109 you had to hit shift+0 two times to get the PP to auto. and though this is not available on ju-88 and 190, all German planes are working fine now!?!?! I know it sounds strange, but they are. Finally after years of having this game, i can start making maps and flying in servers with the beloved planes. Many thanx to everyone who replied to this post. and I will be here more in the future.

You dont normally have to change anything.

The planes are set up for 'normal' flight.

Not sure how this has happened. Unless you fiddle with prop pitch the planes should fly just fine. Nothing should need 'setting'.

FOr MW50 (W key) on the later German planes, make sure the throttle is under 100% when you engage it, then you can throttle up to over 100% once its engaged.
