As it's gonna be a console game as well as a PC game it will be more Arcade than Sim I reckon!
But for some people that's just the sort of thing they like. Has anyone sent RBJ the link yet?

The console folks are trying to compete. I see no reason why Oleg should worry at this point. Now if they come out with a programmable HOTAS setup maybe. Right now I see only so much enjoyment to be had using a game pad or a racing wheel. Besides..the screens dont look so hot and I think the sreious simmers will always go for PC games. Consoles in thier simplicity, which is needed for general consumption and kids, are kind of antithetical to really immersive enjoyable use by simmers. Of course there will be a big greoup that may dive into it..I think there may be some bleeding for a while but if anything more people may be turned on to sims. The consoles are good for gamers....and there is nothing wrong with being a gamer IMO...but if flight sims are your THING.....Pcs are the only way to go.

There's no way for a console game to compete with serious flightsim. SWON will be an arcade game, nothing more, nothing less. It might be fun as long as you remember it's not supposed to be a sim, a bit like Crimson Skies.

I agree along with what bearcat had to say about this too
I started i thread a few days back on the same subject - mainly because a review had said it was a 'possible il2 sturmovic beater'
at first the statement had me wondering - but it is quite obvious that flight sims are the domain of the PC (and Mac) only any flight 'sim' that appears on a console ( whether it is to appear on a pc later or not) is basically going to be more arcadey than sim - a - because that is the audience consoles mainly cater for and b- because of the obvious input limitations.

As for whether it will be an IL2 beater - well it may well be to people into arcade games - but really there is no comparision- SWON cannot be a serious flight sim, so it cannot be said that one is better than the other.

Saying this however doesn't mean it will be crap - as demolisher says it might be fun - as long as one remembers that it is not a 100% serious sim.
as i have said before i feel it may well be fun to play for a while - although i don't think i'd buy it.

Like Bearcat said it will probably bring intrest to the Sim community.

Lucasarts isn't that good anymore, believe me. I played Tiefighter till I was almost grown with my stick but, they aren't like that anymore. They are worse then microsoft nowadays!

I played the PS2 version as a rental. It's entertaining, the missions are pretty cool.

Meh. Not so great all in all. I'd rather they had licensed the FB engine for it. It doesn't suck unless you think anything with aircraft needs CEm, trim, solid AI and only your favorite view settings enabled.

I suspect that it is really aimed at the mass market-somthing that Forgotten Battles is not and does not aspire to. That is plenty OK as there is a great need for a new generation of flight sims on all levels. SWON will be good for the overall sim community as it will generate a desire in some new players for more. Thus some new player will make the leap to FB.

That is a good thing as the need to generate new blood is always there.

LOL this game is for your 5 year old son. Oleg has nothing to worry about actually this might help sales because if any real combat sim fan gets a hold of SWON they will deffinately search for something that doesnt suck.
