I am new to PF and need somebody to walk me thru the install process of other missions I found at Ubi. I have the stand alone and no idea what a root directory is . I flew U8's and U21's in Nam as a Tech Observer but that was easy... thanks

Hello there, Paperkite, please read THIS THREAD (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645) Have you got the 1946 version? If not you will need it to go online http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Welcome Paperkite29,

The guide DD_crash has recommended is excellent. However, if you find it a little to daunting try this.

The root directory is the main directory for IL-2. Here is what it looks like in Windows. If you double click on any folder it will take you to that folder and you can just work your way down to the Root Directory.

Here I have gone into the campaign directory and shown you where I have installed the outstanding training campaign "Straight From the Farm" (please excuse the shameless self promotion).

For single missions you want to go down the Missions/Single/Country/Plane path. Where Country is the 2 letter country designation (RU = Russian, UN = US Navy, etc.) and Plane is the specific aircraft. You can create new folsders for planes, but you CAN'T create new country folders.

Once you have done this, open a second Windows Explorer session and go to the folder where you downloaded the mission. Unzip it and copy the mis and properties files to the plane folder you want.

NOTE: If you downloaded a campaign you MUST move the entire campaign folder and not just the mission files.
