This is a personal account of my recent dealings with Saitek and I thought I would pass on the information.

I have owned an X45 for just over a year. About 2 months ago, the spring that centers the rudder broke. Seeing as how I mash the rudder, it was to be expected. I fixed it with a modified spring I bought, but wanted to get the correct spring so that it wasn't a "rig" job.

The problem lies in contacting Saitek support. It took over a week for them to respond to my inquiries. After a month of waiting for emails, they told me that they will not send or sell me a replacement spring. We are talking about a part that is less than a dollar. I was even willing to pay whatever cost they asked just so I had the proper spring.

So, Saitek cannot send a simple part to a long time customer so that he can fix his product. They want me to send it from Florida to California, pay all the shipping costs AND service charges, just to replace a part that costs less than a dollar.

The stick worked great and I love it. But, I sure hope your X45 doesn't break and you want to get it fixed. They will screw you too.

This is just my personal dealings with them and I thought I would let everyone know they should buy CH Products from now on, as I am going to do as soon as this thing dies again.

My X45 says it has a 2 year warranty. If you've had yours for just over a year, shouldn't it still be covered?

I have had my saitek x45 for over a year and no problems at all, but then again I use the back of the trottle axis for prop pitch and use my ch pedals for rudder

Thanks for the replies gents.

Funny thing is, is I sent them an email letting them know where I posted all of these messages out of courtesy so they could come explain in public why they were not going to send me the part.

They emailed me back saying there was an obvious misunderstanding and that they want to replace the throttle unit at no cost.

I am clarifying with them now exactly what is going to be done at what cost; but it does appear to be free of charge.

If that is the case, Saitek is still on top and I will stick by them Misunderstanding happen all the time.

Strange, maybe there customer service has suffered. When first got my X36 a coupla years back it was missing the throttle tensioning screw. They sent me a replacement asap.

Did you have to send back the old stick?

Here's what I did, I found a spare X45 at Goodwill for $20. Looks brand new, works great. When my 1 year old breaks, I'm on to the next.

They better royally kiss your *** for trying to get you to ship the whole dang thing there to replace a spring.

Misunderstanding my ***, they realised you were going to expose the absurd customer service on the forums of the most popular flight sim on the market.

People actually do come here to ask advice on joystick choices.

A nasty 5 or so page thread in the IL2 general forums about crappy customer service from any flight stick maker couldn't be a good thing for their sales.

Im very interested in the X45.One of the things I was worried about is the fact that all springs lose tension over time.I was wondering if you could find this spring at a local hardware store but from reading this post it seems not.Oh well I quess Ill just have them send me a new one.
